Bolton: NSA leaker Edward Snowden is guilty of treason
WLS ^ | June 10, 2013 | John Dempsey

Posted on 06/10/2013 7:31:41 AM PDT by maggief

(CHICAGO)

(snip)

Former U.S. Ambassador John Bolton told Bruce Wolf and Dan Proft on WLS that he thinks admitted leaker Edward Snowden, is guilty of treason:

"Number one, this man is a liar. He took an oath to keep the secrets that were shared with him so he could do his job. He said said he would not disclose them, and he lied. Number two, he lied because he thinks he's smarter and has a higher morality than the rest of us. This guy thinks he has a higher morality, that he can see clearer than other 299-million 999-thousand 999 of us, and therefore he can do what he wants. I say that is the worst form of treason".

At least the guy had the guts to admit that he leaked the info. Take odumbo and his minions and try to get them to admit to ANYTHING. It’ll never happen.

The “Treason Line” ahead of the kid would be very long if it were started today, beginning with odumbo himself.

Well said. More precise surgical instruments need to come out once we begin grappling with this in a national conversation.

I think I see a very brave man doing what every other who saw the same things was unable to do.

I AGREE with your entire statement, as well as your closing sentence above..

Are you kidding? Congress and the Senate have been approving funds for the data center in Utah. They have access to the confidential data we don’t. You really think if he went to his Congressman/Senator (he lived in Hawai’i) that they’d be going to the floor of the House or the well of the Senate to discuss this?!

If we are to have any moral integrity, we have to call it as it is. Dismissing Snowden's breaking of his oath is no better than the hypocrisy of the Left.

As one poster mentioned, is his oath to the Constitution and the Republic or the current administration???

If the Chinese take over the US. and the same fella spilled some of their secrets that were harmful to the US, would you defend the Chinese???

So, by that logic are you willing to cut Manning loose?

Heck, the Chinese may very well have already hacked all of our data mining anyhow.

I believe you may have just said a mouthful of truth.

It's quite possible focus on Snowden has been created to draw attention away from the fact we've already been had.

After all.. remember this?

I guess computer security's JOB and NEW ROLE is to let them know
what's been compromised rather than preventing it from happening.

Chinese Hackers Have Stolen Plans For Pretty Much The Entire US Military

Business Insider  | 5-28-2013 | Geoffrey Ingersoll

Hackers have accessed designs for more than two dozen major U.S. weapons systems, according to a devastating classified report from a Pentagon advisor shared with the Washington Post.

Although the report from the Defense Science Board did not identify the hackers, senior military and industry officials with knowledge of the breaches say they come primarily from China, according to Ellen Nakashima of the Post.

A public version of the report released in January warned of an "existential cyber attack" with "potentially spectacular" effects.

Some of the more disturbing leaks include designs for cutting edge jets, missile systems, and electronic warfare technology.

Here's a partial list of compromised designs:

F-35

V-22

Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD Missile Defense)

Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (Patriot missile defense system)

AMRAAM (AIM-120 Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile)

Global Hawk (high altitude surveillance drone)

PII (email addresses, SSN, credit card numbers, passwords, etc.)

“That’s staggering,” Mark Stokes, executive director of the Project 2049 Institute, a think tank that focuses on Asia security issues, told the Washington Post. “These are all very critical weapons systems, critical to our national security. When I hear this in totality, it’s breathtaking.”

Evidently part of the big haul was schematics for small parts needed to set up manufacturing for these weapons systems. China apparently uses several different means to gain access to these Defense Systems, most of them utilizing what Information Security experts call "human engineering" — when manipulative emails or clever online con-men actually get victims to divulge information on their own.

Technically, Bolton is correct. Snowden is an enemy of the state.

Sure he is...Just like Paul Revere was...

In The Gulag Archipelago, Solzhenitsyn has a chapter on arrests, how the bureaucrats made a game of categorizing arrests many ways: night time in your apt, at work, at the train station, broad daylight on a crowded street, on and on. I am not saying the mainland Chinese gov has the interest to do this, just that in a city of 10 million, one solitary unprotected person can be scooped up any number of ways.

Utterly ridiculous. Treason isn’t “lying”. I’t waging war against ones own country, or aiding her enemies. By his own words, Bolton declares that anyone who values their rights under the Constitution is an enemy.
Snowden’s oath, like my own, was to defend the constitution. I’m sure he also was required to sign various non-disclosure agreements; but there is no definition of treason which includes violation of those as primary evidence.

John Bolton is a liar.

Bolton seems vaguely gay. I’d bet 95% of DC is panicked that Obowel might “Joe The Plumber” them next, or even worse “Assange” them with trumped up sex charges.

The remaining 5% are delusional and think “It can’t happen to me bc i havent done anything wrong.”

Jesus. Now, we are Not suppose to question our government’s policies. Very disappointed in Bolton. He and the others from the Bush years will go full throttle protecting their precious Patriot act that has now become the Snooping Act.

That’s just it. The government is not doing anything illegal. They’re doing something against the constitution but that would have to be decided by a group of judges who have probably been blackmailed with information the government legally obtained through spying.

Snowden did not disclose anything the government is doing illegally. He just disclosed that they’re doing it.

If govt is doing something illegal, you have a duty to report it.
