And so begins our annual 8th TexasCowboy Memorial Shoot. We are having a great time!
The Mom and crew are busy with family who stopped into town to attend the shoot and visit, so she asked me to get the thread started.
Look for comments and pictures over the next several days!
It was great to meet you and your hubby!
Awwww! :( Here’s a (((hug))) from Luvvy!
Same for us young lady. I may be pinging you for supper someday when I’m out your way. My treat I mean.
That would be great! Would love a chance to visit more!
Yeah, I can see that also.
Sending prayers her way! I am sure that hug from you is gonna be central to easing a broken heart too.
Can’t wait to see all the pics!! You had some good ones!
I've always had him matched up with Sam Elliott in my head.
They wish they were as cool.
His words...
I don't dwell on horror stories like so many people on the support Web sites. I never look at the whole forest; I concentrate on one tree at a time. When I open my eyes in the morning, I thank God for the gift of another day, and it's the only day that's important.
... This is a family effort, and I can feel the love and compassion from all over this land.
God bless you TexasCowboy!
He truly was a wonderful man (and gave the best ever hugs!), and we are indeed poorer without him.
I do know that he appreciates us honoring his memory because we have yet to have a bad weather day for these shoots.
It was great to meet you and your wonderful hubby too!! Looking forward to seeing you guys next year and hopefully sooner! We are going to plan a small North Texas FReeper cookout later this summer and hope you can both come!
Hugs!!
Can I invite myself & Eaker?
What a great picture!! Nice to put a face to a FReeper legend and true patriot! You can see what a great man he was just by looking at his smile!
But the best testament to Texas Cowboy is how loved he was by those who knew him. I feel like I knew him now just by hearing the loving stories told about him by those that did. You guys do his memory proud every year.
Of course!! I am going to insist you stay with us too and bring Kitty!!
Glad you are home safe and sound!! Enjoyed seeing you again and can’t wait til next year!!
I don’t know who this fool is but he does a jam-up job of fundraising.

Enjoyed seeing you, too! I’m ready already for another one! Just givr me time to wash! :)
Good Job!
We have once again put another successful shoot behind us. The attendance this year was the highest we have ever had.
One of the best things about this shoot was the surprise visit by MS.BEHAVIN ~ what an absolute thrill to see her there!
Thursday night we all had the chance to catch up and enjoy lots and lots of laughter.
Friday was spent shopping, site seeing, checking out the creeks and rivers, or just being plain lazy. That evening we all met at the cottages pavilion for more great conversation and good food ~ thanks to penelopesire & the Mr., humblegunner, NYTexan and BaconMan . Part of the entertainment for the evening was provided my Mother Nature ~ we saw a wasp and a spider battling, the wasp won and carried the spider away; we also saw a cicada crawling up a post, then coming out of its shell.
Saturday morning the crew met for breakfast (if you every go to Granny Ds in Canyon Lake, do not get the breakfast buffet) before heading to the range. After several hours of shooting we scarfed down brisket & shrimp creole provided by cpdiii, perfect potato salad prepared by laurenmarlowe and pinto beans (aka jalapeno soup) cooked by me. By Saturday evening we were all pretty pooped, but did manage to meet again at the pavilion for snacks and drinks.
Sunday was a slow day packing up to head home.
With the exception of some problems BuckeyeTexan ran into, it was a perfect weekend.
I enjoyed very much seeing all of those that attended, and was thrilled to meet some new participants. As always I am looking forward to next year ~ where I hope we beat the attendance record.
It must be added that the folks in Wimberely are so darn nice and friendly.
Yeah, she dragged my 4-wheeler ramps into the road and ran over 'em.
I still love her.. but just damn.
That dude did a great job.
‘Four More Years’ !!
We need you to do a video for the next FReeperthon...lol!! You rocked!
Btw..wish we had a video of your performance the night before too...lol. Laughed so hard my cheeks were sore when we got back to our cabin....ROTFLOL!!
