Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: Anti-Vaxxer
Slate ^ | June 5, 2013 | Phil Plait

Posted on 06/06/2013 11:57:28 AM PDT by neverdem

The Kennedy family name is laden with history and brings to mind a definite set of characteristics: glamor, power, intelligence, wealth, influence. Kennedys have had their name on a president, numerous senators, representatives, ambassadors, and other high office holders.

The Kennedy dynasty, if you wish to call it that, has seen its share of triumphs and disasters, of course. I need not go into detail; scores of books have been written about them, from putting humans on the Moon and the championing of civil rights to personal tragedies of assassination, death, scandal, and more.

Most of these issues are in the past. But there is an ongoing problem associated with a Kennedy, one I consider extremely troubling. Specifically it’s with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is an attorney, a radio host, and an environmental activist.

He is also, as it happens, a full-blown anti-vaccination conspiracy theorist.

And I do mean full-blown. RFK Jr. has a long history of adhering to crackpot ideas about vaccines, mostly in the form of the now thoroughly disproven link to autism. He’s been hammering this issue for a decade now, and his claims appear to be no better and no more accurate now than they were when he first started making them...

The plane exploded as it began to lift off.

Incorrect. The plane exploded in flight well after takeoff.

You’re right, I guess he wasn’t a hero after all

you sure had smallpox vaccine in 1940.

Because they existed did not mean necessarily they were available, I didn't have one until 1948. Penicillin, was also in short supply, we had to use sulfa drugs, barely had either or Novocaine. Dentist charged 50 cents to pull a tooth, without Novocaine, or one dollar with. I remember that trip to the dentist very well, that was around 1946.

I broke my arm in 1944 and remember my mother and the Doc putting me to sleep with a tea strainer and a gauze patch, mom dripped the either out of the can by hand.

While all of that is true, the bulk of the Kennedy fortune came from Joe Sr’s games as a plunger in the stock market in the 20’s.

JFK Jr.’s wife and her young sister died in his plane crash. I recall my father’s observing that if my brother had crashed a plane in those conditions, we’d all have agreed that he died of stupid.

Surprised so many on here just willy nilly believe the govt on vaccines and their safety

And, Rick Perry used an executive order to force little girls in Texas to take the HPV vaccine....which had yet been fully tested.....had only a 70% effective rate (it did not protect against all forms of HPV)....young girls were already dying from the vaccine.... and Perry took a bribe from the manufacturer to push the exec order

Michelle Bachmann was trashed by the PerryBots when she raised this issue....an issue many Christian Conservatives are concerned with

RFK, Jr is a grade A DoucheCrat.... but there are a lot of Christian Conservatives who have legitimate concerns about the current vaccines. Sad that so many willy nilly believe the government

If vaccines were that safe...the Feds would not have set aside billions in funds to cover vaccine makers in liability cases

“the championing of civil rights”

Bobby Kennedy did real well championing civil rights. He was one of Joe McCarthy’s henchmen. I believe McCarthy was even the god father to Bobby’s kid.
