'Tea party' tempest brewing

The movement is as fired up as ever and just as unwilling to compromise. That could spell trouble for the Republican Party.
The "tea party" is back and is brewing trouble for the Republican establishment.
After the GOP debacle in the 2012 election, when Republicans not only failed to win the presidency but blew a chance to take over the Senate, party leaders paused to consider what had gone wrong.
The Republican National Committee issued a scathing report warning that the party was in "an ideological cul-de-sac" and resolved to act friendlier toward women, minorities and low-income voters. Strategist Karl Rove said the lesson was to nominate more moderate candidates and set about raising money to do just that.
But tea party and other conservative leaders, undaunted, drew the opposite conclusion.
"It was not conservatives" who lost those Senate races, 19 of them wrote in a joint attack against Rove's efforts. "Not one moderate challenger won." The solution, they argued, was to swing further right, not toward the center.
The tea party is as fired up as ever, even though the movement is smaller now than in its heyday of 2010. In one recent poll, only 22% of American voters said they considered themselves tea party supporters, down from 30% three years ago.
But the grass-roots small-government movement has proved...
--snip--
It spells trouble in the Senate, where the tea party's newest star, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), has brought old-guard GOP leaders to the edge of rage by publicly criticizing them as "a bunch of squishes." He and other tea party senators have succeeded in blocking House-Senate budget negotiations, charging that talks might lead to a deal to raise the federal debt ceiling, which they oppose.
"I don't trust the Republicans, and I don't trust the Democrats," Cruz said...

Only I know the truth but I can honestly say. Neither Rubio or Christie fooled me.
I’m as Proud to call Cruz my senator as I am unhappy with the rink Cronyn.
I hope Cruz does not disappoint or get destroyed.

I will NOT vote for any of these below.
I WILL vote for those who run against them, even if they are from another party.
In short, the GOP is full of
VILE members who'll sell us out in a heartbeat!
Here are the ones that I know about.
What do we do when our side is full of TRAITORS?
I submit the following for proof.
Check out this link,
"Senate Republicans Willfully and Knowingly Lie to Their Constituents (vote to fund Obamacare)".
The following Senators voted to pass the continuing resolution even though it still funds Obamacare. If any one of those senators tells you they did not vote to fund Obamacare or, in fact, voted against funding Obamacare, they are being mendacious.
They may have voted for Ted Cruzs amendment,
but after it failed, they still knowingly and willingly voted to fund Obamacare.
And now they are lying to their constituents who call them out on it.
Many of these same Senators are also supporting separate legislation to foist a massive tax increase on the American people.
And let's not forget Sen. John McCain, one of Conservatives worst enemies, saying
'I don't understand' GOP filibuster on guns.
Thanks to Cyropaedia for this:
And the Gang of 8 will try to tell you that this is just one more reason we need to pass amnesty, -NOW.

Great analogy.
But they’re probably more like the domesticated kind of turkeys. The kind that are so stupid they’ll drown looking up at the rain.

That is the best description of the GOP, I’ve ever heard.
Too many of us don’t pay attention to old time wisdom.

I sure hope you’re right- I had no illusiosn about Christie- Always thought he was a pompous hothead who did not reflect GOP values- Rubio I wasn’t sure about- just had a gut feeling he was another whiner after hearign soem of his fox itnerviews-
Cruz sounds tough, I hope He stays that way- Rand Paul Was soundign pretty tough on certain issues too- but I didn’t have much hope for him beign htat his father was a nutcase- I really hope Cruz Stays the course- (He did tell family that he fully expected to return from his first daysd in cognress with arrows and axes in his back- I thoguht that was a great attitude to take- and showed he was serious about retainign his values- hope it continues)

Pray for his protection and maybe an extra guardian angel or two. All sorts of evil is being directed his way for saying what most are thinking and doing what we know needs to be done.

Romney wouldn’t have leaked info on Israel’s defense nor gone after Rosen and others. He might be better in the Mideast, though he didn’t articulate plan as whatever message he had was eaten up by Crowley and her action figure, BO.
Otherwise, I can’t imagine what would be different.

Let me get this straight - Obama AND the Democrats are up to their eyeballs in corruption, and the Tea Party being reinvigorated directly as a result of this corruption is a problem for the GOP? The Koch Bros. need to buy this paper soon to save it from itself.
