What is joyless about not being a fan of Norman Lear? Of not liking All in the Family, in fact, of not liking television at all.

How broken to the TV/Hollywood leash are you that someone not liking a TV series from 40 years ago, from conservative hating members of varying levels of left wing leadership, must be “joyless”.

Television and joyful people is not a great match up, TV is largely a wasteland for depressives and unengaged, passive people.

For the most part AITS transcends the politics of the time as most people today would agree. Movies are just as important a part of American culture as books and music.
