The sample ladies at costco must be off duty seals. I mean the ones where I shop might talk you to death but they sure aint gonna chase you down and cut you up.

I think they should just dispense with the pepper spray and tazers. Just shoot anyone who refuses to follow orders.

No, the autopsy may reveal why she was acting erratically.

They could have pepper sprayed her, or tazed her, but their choice was to shoot her and kill her.

"They felt threatened and used a stun gun on her, but it didn’t subdue her."

Uh-oh, guess they did try to stun her. But when your agenda is to bash police officers, why bother letting facts get in the way?

I did read the story. If the officer could get right up to the woman to put a stun gun on her body, that means he was very close to her and could have disarmed her. A taser would have put him farther away from her and delivered a stronger current. She didn’t have to die.

Costco doesn’t allow knives at their demonstration tables.

But Costco does allow their demonstration subcontractors to smoke "wet" and go berserk, stabbing police officers?

Gee, do you think it might be remotely possible that this fine, upstanding citizen might have done a thing or two not "allow[ed]"? I've never been shot by the police, none of my relatives have been shot by the police, none of my friends have ever been shot by the police. There's a reason for that: None of us smoke wet and have berserker episodes.

Why is it that you'd side with the insane drug addict instead of police officers sworn to uphold the law and protect the public?

I've gotta think you've got a prejudice in you the same as I see on D.U. against our military.

Recently the enforcers of the law have demonestrated a non chalant attitude toward their taking of human life.

I believe they, like an animal that has tasted blood, becomes addicted to it.

I think there may be a difference between her lunging at the cops with the knife or just didn’t put the knife down fast enough for them. That we don’t know.

I’m speaking about these officers, not ALL police officers. I have read enough articles about some police officers that are far from perfect. I guess you haven’t.

You assume to much. I have no “agenda” here. I respect the police when they are not tazing 77 year old men, shooting dogs, or beating a woman for walking into a gas station. Read the articles here, look them up.

Weirdly there seems to be nothing between “stop” and blamblamblam in any of the police training manuals anymore.

Exactly. A Cop say stop as they draw their weapon. Then it's POW POW POW. And I know that because I have seen it with my own eyes. It's not like the moveis were cops go around pointing guns at perps and telling them to put their hands up. These days it seems any perceived threat = lead sandwich.

comment on nbcwashington.com:

“My wife, baby and I were in the yard section 2 aisles over from the food section where it happened. We saw about 8 cops run by, and then a manager walk right by us and not say a word! Next thing I heard was “Drop the Knife” and then 1 shot followed very quickly by about 3 or 4 more.”

Having been an MP I think that if I and 6 or 7 partners couldn’t handle a girl without having to kill her I’d look for another line of work....

Really?

I'm wondering what your expertise on this subject that you purport to have, really is.

Through personal experience and sharing notes with friends are relatives who've been through: CBP, Social Security, Post Office, State Police (4 states), Local Police (5 jurisdictions), and other varied Federal LEO agencies (at least three), we've all been briefed on the UFC (Use of Force Continuum)

1. Physical Presence
2. Verbal Command
3. Intermediate Force
4. Intermediate Force Weapons
5. Lethal Force

So what police training manuals have you been reading... anymore?

No, it is not wrong to wish that multiple deputies could subdue a mentally disturbed woman with a knife rather than shoot her dead.

It not wrong to wish for a better world where police have the skills to de-escalate any violent situation.

It is wrong to expect that police can control a psychotic knife-wielding assailant without use of deadly force. They just aren't good enough to do it. Very few people are good enough to do such things without getting seriously injured or killed for their efforts.

Movies and books give a false impression that disarming an attacker is a matter of a few quick moves artfully rendered in slow-motion video. It doesn't work that way in real life. In particular, if you have to forcibly take away a knife, you are going to get cut.

Ironically, an experienced and violent criminal probably would have dropped the knife on sight of police - and lived to talk about it.

The story continues...

...the eight-officer team subsequently departed the Costco premises and traveled approximately four miles to the woman's home, where they shot her dog.

One officer tried to use a stun gun on Scott, but Chapman said the stun gun “did not work” and one of the deputies fatally shot her.

[Loudoun County Sheriff Mike] Chapman said the only shots fired were by one of the deputies.

http://www.wjla.com/articles/2013/05/sterling-costco-shooting-wounds-two-including-loudoun-sheriff-s-deputy-89403.html

UPDATE: A woman who authorities say threatened Loudoun County Sheriff’s deputies with a knife and scissors and was fatally shot by deputies at a Sterling Costco store has been identified as Mhai Scott, 38, of Sterling, Virginia.

When she went at deputies with the weapons and a county-issued TASER was unable to stop her, one of the deputies then shot her multiple times, Sheriff Michael Chapman says. A deputy who suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, possibly from a ricochet, has been released from a hospital in good condition.

I think you are underestimating how dangerous a knife can be. If this is what happened, the cop had every right to shoot her dead before she got close enough to be able to do any damage, sad as it is to have to do this to someone who might not have been able to help being mad.

Horse manure.........

If a cop can't take down a woman with a knife, he should not be on the force.

Sounds to me like the cops murdered a very sick woman.....
