The 7 States That The Rest Of America Would Like To Kick Out Of the Country

An AskReddit thread yesterday polled Americans about which state they would remove from the union.

The answers were diverse and had a number of thought processes behind them — which states had the least people, which states contributed least to the country, which could survive on their own, and which state was Mississippi — and in the end a lot of people made a lot of sense.

Here are the states most Americans would love to see go:

7. Delaware.

First in, first out. Redditors alleged there's not much important there.

However, "Lots of companies are incorporated there. Sure, they could just move to another tax haven, but it would be a rough transition and they would lose out on the decades of case law that the state has on the subject of corporations.

6. Florida

This is most likely the result of the adventures of Florida Man and a desire to make elections easier.

Georgians spoke out in its defense as a functional Hurricane-shield.

5. Rhode Island

Rhode Island's departure would offend a minimal amount of people and shed a minimal amount of space.

"I had a professor in college from there and said that milkshakes are referred to as "cabinets." Who the hell does that?" Williston, North Dakota

3-4 (TIE). Either Dakota

One work-around solution was to combine North and South Dakota into a single Super Dakota.

While some Americans actually doubted the existence of North Dakota and proposed to strike it anyway, others pointed out that its absence would be noted

wi isn’t that far off, it’s a 50-50 state and the conservatives are overall winning since walker got elected, won his recall, and in 2010 we took back a us senate seat and we’ve’got the governor’s’office plus both chambers of the legislature. and we still have 4-3 conservative state supreme court.

I’ll trade you Maryland for Connecticut and Oregon for Maine or New Hampshire. (We still need free passage to the Pacific.)

California not being there surprised me. It’s become a cesspool.

Exactly. Yahoo "News" just had an article about how Germany is the "most desirable" nation in the world these days. Fine...pack up every CommieLib in the nation and ship 'em off to Deutschland. Keep the states.

Whoops, forgot to include Illinois and Colorado. That puts us at 16. May soon be easier to just list those that we think should remain as part of the U.S.

Certainly Washington, D.C. should not remain. Maybe we should make “Monroe”, Oklahoma the new Capitol of the U.S.

New Mexico is the state everyone forgets, which is just fine with the Government - as they don’t want anyone knowing what is going on here.

Seriously, when I told my friends I was moving to New Mexico I was asked, more than once, “Won’t you need a passport?”

I kid you not.

Even with 16 down we’re still in pretty good shape with the other 41. I’ll bet “Monroe” would have more respect for our way of life than what we have now.

Yeah, I kid them, but what really happened last time I drove through there was “where the heck did all these people come from?” Good friend of mine took off for the fields with his trailer in tow and to the best of my knowledge he still hasn’t found a hookup after a month looking. Boomtown economy.

You can say that again. It’s an absolutely beautiful state with resources out the wazzoo, managed by idiots.

The thing about North Dakota is that you’re not absolutely certain it exists even when you’re driving through it.

I live in the Seattle area and my eldest daughter went to Indiana University - Bloomington for her undergrad degree in Music Performance. (If you have a musician and they want to study music and you've looked at the conservatories and nearly fainted at the price -- IU - Bloomington has one of the best Music Schools in the country. I had to pay out-of-state tuition, but it was still a lot less than the conservatories.)

Anyway, driving my daughter from Washington State to Indiana, I took I-90 and that takes you through North Dakota. I remember coming back on a Sunday and I went for more than an hour on one stretch of road without seeing any sign of humanity. It was a little eerie.
