Maybe that man in the Mercedes was a retired mechanic who managed to do well, save and invest, or maybe he owns the shop where the young mechanic is fortunate enough to find work to feed his family at Carl’s Jr.

Yeah, or maybe that mechanic actually worked two jobs to pay for one of his children's medical treatments and the Mercedes owner inherited his money. Please. I'm in my late 50's and I qualify for senior discounts in many cases. I don't need them and I don't ask for them. Just because I happen to surpass a certain age doesn't create entitlement. That's the thinking of a liberal.

So is knee jerk class envy. Don't fall into that trap. It's a business decision to provide a discount to whomever the business owner deems will enhance their business. Did you ask the mercedes guy if he considered the discount an entitlement or are you just projecting a sense of entitlement based on the affluent disparity you witnessed? Be careful of what you think you see.

When a business voluntarily chooses to give discounts to certain groups of people it’s not an entitlement, it’s a business decision. If you choose to not take advantage of the discounts available to you that’s your choice, I myself don’t coupon or sale hunt, but there’s nothing wrong with the people who decide to take advantage of the discounts voluntarily offered. Those discounts were offered specifically to get THEIR business after all.

AND THAT is where your VIEW of this situation is incorrect. It is not ENTITLEMENT.

It is only a MARKETING tool. For instance, if the ZOO had a CHILREN UNDER SIX FREE policy, would you insist on paying for your grandchild ? If you grocery store has a TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE policy (as long as you have a XXXX CUSTOMER CARD) on an item, do you insist on paying for both anyway?

Is a 'senior citizens discount' GUARANTEED by the US GOVERNMENT ?

We all know the answer is NO.

It has nothing to do with 'entitlement'.
