His sect isn’t even recognized as muslim by muslims. In fact Saudi sheikhs preach that they are worse than Jews and Christians. There has been no direct conflict between the two in 40 years.
I really find it hard to believe that HERE of all places, people are ignorant enough to cheer for Sunni fanatics, who are fighting alongside admitted Al-Qaeda groups.
You even go as far to call them “rebels”, and frankly it is disgusting.
I find it confusing, to say the least, that you would support an Islamic state in Syria, to border Israel. You are arguing for the creation of a state run by religious leaders who ideologically believe that the Jewish people are their enemy.
There is a large difference between a secular state being against Israel and a religiously fanatical one being against it.
Look at Iraq, we could not stop the suicide bombings conducted almost daily conducted by these fanatics(still goes on today) yet somehow you expect they will be friendly with Israel?
You call Iran a jihadist state. When has Iran sent troops to attack us? In any field of battle I mean not just at home. The 9/11 attackers were sunni, the 7/7 attackers were sunni, the boston bombers were sunni, the jihadis who came from every sunni muslim country to fight in Afghanistan were sunni, Benghazi attackers were sunni, uss cole bombers were sunni, the bali bombings were sunni, the mali terrorists were sunni, the Somali terrorist group is sunni, hamas is sunni. Do you recognize a pattern here? Hezbollah is Shiite, but contrary to the other organisations they atleast know how to keep a status quo as seen in 2006 when hostilities ceased between them and Israel.
You need to learn and know your enemy. Yes, both are I understand that. In that case you need to know which of them is the more serious threat. I can’t understand how you can see Assad as a bigger threat that the spreading of militant sunni islam who make no secret that they want a worldwide caliphate. There terrorists are funded by our masters Saudi Arabia, and practically every mosque in the world is built using Saudi and Qatari money. They subvert minorities in their countries to the point where almost none exist anymore.
Look at how the Christians in Iraq have diminished, look at how the Copts in Egypt are getting treated, look at the Syrian Christians at how they have fled their country and the ones who remain are being terrorised by groups like al nusra(who have pledged allegiance to ayman al Zawahiri and al Qaeda)
We have supported the toppling of secular leaders for them to be replaced by sunni fanatics. In every circumstance idiots have been cheering for the downfall of ghaddafi and then Mubarak and now assad. In two of the previous examples they did not have the foresight to anticipate the disaster that would ensue. We are supporting the implantation of leaders in sunni muslim countries who all share the same ideology and once their power is consolidated they will turn it on Israel, and just go do the research yourself as they do not hide these aspirations one bit.

As a last note, don’t throw words like genocidal around foolishly. It does not fit the description.

Thankfully Israel is not as ignorant as you are.

On another note, what is with the chest bashing on this thread. Israel will not attack a Russian shipment, and if they did it would likely cause trouble for Israel. They would not be able to stand to the Russian military regardless of how hard you bash your chests.

Also, Syria is roughly 20% alawite(maybe more I don’t know the number). It is rather difficult to retain power in a nation which is 70% Sunni who, especially in the initial stages of the coup, were vehemently hostile towards the alawite. The key method to do this is continue the status quo with Israel, keep them an enemy as a way to galvanize the fanatics into directing their hate towards them as opposed to Assad and the alawites. By giving them a legitimate(according to their religion) enemy in Israel he can control the Sunnis. In that respect, Assad is not the real enemy of the Israelis, and infact should there be a breakup of Syria into sectarian states I would find that the Alawites would naturally be an ally to Israel.

My two cents.

In the last 50 years, the West nurtured Sunnis by keeping their Shite opponents at bay, creating a cancerous Sunni tumor. Now that rich Sunnis can give orders, the West is marching towards clearing out their Shite opponents.

In this Sunni vs Shite Islamic Civil War, Sunni terrorism makes Shite terrorism look like a picnic. A rag-tag group of Sunnis themselves can cause the most powerful country to lose face and withdraw in disgrace (don’t tell me Iraq and Afghanistan withdrawls weren’t disgraceful).

In an ideal world, the Islamic Civil War would be left alone, but presence of oil fields, the need for war to keep certain industries afloat, and the security of an ally in Israel complicates matters — thus prompting Nations to take sides. Eventually, it is the chickens coming home to roost, as a wise man so eloquently put.

The rebels are rebels. Anyone would rebel against such an evil regime as Assad's. I hope the rebels kill Assad. He deserves it.

Iran is a fanatically jihadist theocracy and is the REAL enemy of the US and Israel.

Kadaffy was a terrorist who murdered many innocent Americans. I celebrated his richly deserved death.

Assad is a genocidal socialist dictator slaughtering his own people just like Kadaffy. I will always celebrate the demise of such savage and inhuman animals.

Israel has already struck Assad repeatedly because they are not as ignorant AS YOU ARE. Israel is not afraid of KGB Putin and his neo-Soviet Russia.
