'Offensive, feminist porn': Samsung TV ad slammed as sexist by MEN... AND women
UK Daily Mail ^ | May 24, 2013 | Martha De Lacey

A new Samsung TV television advert is outraging rights groups for both women and men, being slammed as sexist from both sides.

The commercial - which advertises the brand's Evolution Kit, which turns any Samsung TV into an internet-ready Smart TV - portrays men as useless, loutish neanderthals... and women as pushovers who put up with such behaviour.

Slammed by critics as 'offensive', 'man-hating', and 'feminist porn', the Evolutionary Husband? advert, released on American networks, has still had almost 10 million views on Samsung's YouTube channel.

Women slapping men in TV ads is accepted here. Imagine if a man slapped a woman across the face to sell a car.

Not to mention the dependably hilarious blow to the groin.

I sort of thought that kind of thing was required on TV for maybe the last 50 years.

I won't be taking my two Samsung 24" SyncMaster 245T Widescreen LCD Monitors out to the garbage, but I sure won't buy anymore of their products. They were cutting-edge in 2009, but there's better out there, now.

I like Samsung so I’m just going to pretend that the wife is a conservative and the husband is a Democrat. She plugs in the Evolution TV and, voilà!!, the husband turns into a productive member of society.

It is just another commercial to fast-forward through.

I wonder about ad agencies that develop these stupid commercials. Do they really believe the stupidity of some commercial are going to make people rush out and buy that product?

Personally, Samsung is on my junk list. I had a Samsung DVR that lasted just about 18 months and a Samsung $800 Win7 laptop that last just 1 month after the warranty expired. It was the motherboard and they didn’t even have replacements for it. So I have an $800 Samsung door-stop.

That is routine in many sitcoms, too. A guy gets kit in his privates and a laugh track follows.

Not just sitcoms, but the female-lead-detective series use the same technique.

It seemed to work for Fiat in their Super Bowl Fiat 500 Abarth commercial.

I call those series “sitcoms,” too, but for different reasons. :-)

No slapping in this commercial that I saw. I thought it was slightly humorous. It was certainly meant to be funny. It doesn’t quite succeed but it’s nothing to get upset about.

A KIA auto commercial has the androidette punching the guy across the room into the wall.

I don’t understand how that sells cars.

Rape (male on male) gets huge laughs and is a very commonly expressed hope for criminals and disliked people.

The decidedly anti-male ads have been a trend for the last 30-40 years. This is just the ultimate result of all the anti-male bias the networks have been spewing since the femi-nazis took over Hollyweird and Madison Avenue. Men are useless troglodytes who can barely tie their shoes without the help of super-smart wifey who has just come back from her job as brain surgeon or Supreme Court justice to find her idiot partner bungling everything. I’m surprised someone hasn’t made a satire of the whole thing. Of course, most of the ad-writers are probably metrosexual males.
