A damaging Friday news dump before a holiday weekend? Who could have seen that coming? Dump away, Justice Department:
The Justice Department said on Friday that officials up to Attorney General Eric Holder vetted a decision to search an email account belonging to a Fox News reporter whose report on North Korea prompted a leak investigation. In a statement emailed to Reuters, the department said the search warrant for the reporter's email account followed all laws and policies and won the independent approval of a federal magistrate judge.
We're apparently supposed to feel better about everything because the DOJ "followed all laws and policies" and secured their warrant from a judge. That would be the same warrant that designated journalist James Rosen as a potential "criminal co-conspirator" in order to keep it secret. Details about the breadth of the investigation continue to emerge. Via The New Yorker's Ryan Lizza, another eye-opening scoop:

watching prison break and the Govt is exactly like what we have here.
This IS a BFD and Fri news dump or not it will live on.
agreed, the judge who gave this should be reported to the news and we all should know
I'll keep looking for more.
Rosens emails were seized, with a judges approval, as part of the prosecution of Kim. In addition to a delay unsealing the documents for warrants, there was also a delay unsealing chief judge of the U.S. District Court in Washington Royce Lamberths 2010 order that the government wasnt required to notify Rosen that his emails had been the subject of a warrant. Although that order was posted on the courts website, it was not available on the public docket until now.
Lamberth apologized for these delays Wednesday this week saying a series of administrative errors by the courts staff caused them.
The documents reveal that two judges had said the Justice Department was required to notify Rosen of the warrants, the New Yorker reported. But U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen, Jr., requested in 2010 that the court exercise its power to keep sealed the warrants and related documents in this case as there exists an extraordinary situation and compelling government interest, which justify such a sealing.
Machen also requested the court order Google not to notify Rosen of the warrant either.
Lambert overturned the two judges who declared the Rosen was to be notified of the warrants, granting Machens request that the documents remain sealed.

Note Holder said prosecute when he testified. He didn’t he investigated the reporter. He’s also said it would be wrong to prosecute a journalist in a case like this. I don’t see how they would hang perjury charges on him. Also, who would prosecute him? His deputies would if they decided there was a case. There isn’t a chance in the world they’d do it any more than they would take action for the contempt of Congress action.
Friday News dump/ long holiday weekend day.
WHY OBAMA WILL NEVER INVESTIGATE HIMSELF
“Lambert overturned the two judges who declared the Rosen was to be notified of the warrants, granting Machens request that the documents remain sealed. “
Guess what? Machen is one of “Holder’s People.” You would think this country was Zimbabwe with the number of absolutely crooked Blacks in our government.
Ooops...forgot the day before Thanksgiving.
I'll tell you exactly what a prosecutor would say...give it to a jury and let them decide...
I think it was a decorated military commander who,in a moment of uncertainty, said "the fish rots from the head down".
The other shoe will drop on no-see-um holder when the court releases other warrrants that involve NBC, CBS CNN and members of Congress. Then everyone calls for his head.
Nero and Jarrett are paranoid and are control freaks. This is not isolated to Fox News. I wouldn’t be surprised to soon learn the buggedOffices and were tracking Issa.
No worries, John Boehner will take care of Eric. /s
Thanks Nachum.
At least until 2016.
I’ll bet
Gone By The Fourth of July!
I’m thinking sometime AFTER the Sunday talk shows ..this has to end for O because it is too much BAD continual publicity .
But I’ve been wrong before. I also thought we would have President Romney at this point.
That's my take. This isn't limited to FOX and Rosen. The Useful Idiots had better take a retrospective view of their own journalistic world.
