I think the problem is that popular (hollywood) media is still perpetuating that belief. I just recently watched “Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” and not as recent “Outsourced” which both presented the belief that there was still a caste system in place, and “untouchable” people in the society.
I think most of us have a crazy relative who thinks their dog is some kind of strange kid.
When my kids were small I used to sit and rub the dog’s belly with them and point out the choice cuts of meat.

I just talked to an Indian lady earlier this week who assured me that the caste system is alive and well in her country (”blight” was the word she used). It’s good to see that the government is trying to do something about it.
That would seem more like reality. Reality is, we still have racism in the US; it doesn’t go away overnight. And if anything, the drum beating that goes on around it makes it worse. I know it does for me. Makes me second guess my actions; actions that are 2nd nature, but could certain people find them offensive. Until we stop analyzing every action in view of a racist overtone, we will never grow. The left, who perpetuates this, wants this to stay, of course.
Try setting a dog loose in the wild and hunt it. Do the same with a boar.
See which activity gets you more trouble. Therein lies the hypocrisy.
