Reid to delay Senate votes on most Obama nominees until July

WASHINGTON — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Tuesday that he will delay votes on several of President Obama’s nominees for key posts until July, a decision raising the prospect that he’ll seek further changes to Senate rules that would allow executive appointments to be confirmed by a simple majority.

Senate leaders had considered holding a vote this week to confirm Richard Cordray as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, a nomination Republicans have maintained they would filibuster unless the Obama administration agreed to overhaul the agency.

Action is also pending on two of Obama’s Cabinet nominations — Thomas E. Perez for Labor secretary and Gina McCarthy for EPA administrator — after party-line votes in Senate committees last week. Two other Cabinet picks face confirmation hearings later this week.

At his weekly news conference, Reid told reporters that he would not bring those nominations to the full Senate until after it considers two major pieces of legislation, the farm bill and comprehensive immigration reform.

Harry Reid is in a tight spot. Obama is no doubt pressuring him to try any dirty tricks to get these corrupt slimeballs confirmed, BUT... if Reid changes the rules, and Obama’s scandals cost rats the senate in 2014, the new Democrat minority will be powerless.

If he passes his “reform” of senate rules. What are the odds that if republicans take the senate in 2014, that the lame ducks will repeal that rule change?

Bullsh*t. Reid is scared sh*tless that a patriot on the street might kick his skinny a$$.

It’s way past time for Americans to invite purse-carrying, worthless fascist pukes into a dark alley with no witnesses around and read them the riot act.

Get working, sons of patriots.

They could. But if Cruz is Majority Leader in 2015 (which, given his trajectory, would not be a surprise), then he could simply re-instate Reid’s new rule.

...for that reason I suspect they’ll buckle and not do it - as much as I wish they would.

I would agree...there could be 51 Republicans after the November 2014 election, and Reid ought to take a long look at how this mess is developing. I don’t think I would give any special favors to the Republicans. But maybe the White House is pressing hard on this issue and want their nominees in place by the end of the summer.
