MONTREAL - A stolen iPhone and a sex tape that's been circulating for three years has left a young woman's military career in ruins.
Alexandra-Kim Martin-Roberge joined the Canadian Forces in May 2009, dreaming of serving in the infantry.
One of only two women in the 3rd Battalion of the Royal Canadian Regiment, the Quebecer had planned to join the combat mission in Afghanistan.
But one indiscretion destroyed her reputation, her self-esteem and her integrity in the eyes of comrades.
In 2010, while on a 12-month assignment in Alberta, a fellow soldier stole her smart phone and copied a 13-minute clip that depicted her having sex, her face clearly visible.
"He managed to take my phone during a patrol," Martin-Roberge told QMI Agency. "Ten days later I found out all the guys were swapping it. It was like an atomic bomb. For a woman in the infantry, this is the worst thing that can happen."
Other soldiers began making fun of her, even to her face.
"They said I was doing porn movies," said Martin-Roberge. "They called me a slut and a bitch. I'm so sorry that I made this video, but I didn't do anything wrong. It was stolen from me, and since then, I've suffered a public rape."
Foreign troops eventually watched the sex tape and American soldiers even asked her for her autograph. She went on leave, then rejoined the 3rd Battalion but got into an altercation with another soldier who insulted her.
Martin-Roberge now faces a court martial over the confrontation and is currently on sick leave. She has yet to obtain a full discharge and is trying to switch to a career in real estate.
Officials at CFB Valcartier near Quebec City tell QMI that they're aware of Martin-Roberge's case.
The Department of National Defence says it's taking the woman's allegations very seriously and is looking into her claims.
Meanwhile, Martin-Roberge is seeing a therapist.
"My dignity and reputation are dirt," she said. "I think everyone at Valcartier base must have (the clip)."
"People who know me know that I would have given anything to my regiment. I made an effort to be accepted as a woman in a male environment."
It's not the first time a soldier's sexual escapades have gone public.
A soldier in Kingston, Ont., was charged in 2001 following release of a video depicting a male soldier having sex with a female student.
They believe their guys when he says "no way that anyone will ever see these videos/pics... they are just for you and me."
But anything digital can get stolen, and once it's on the Internet, it's forever.
The article never says she was doing it with a guy.
what this does show is that women remain sexual objects to many or most men, and that even in the military, character is a rare commodity....
The most important thing to me, is she a good soldier?
My grandma always gave the best advice....”keep your pants on”.
Wonder what she would say about all the smart phone nonsense
Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian (though it was an unbelievably boring video, I've been told), Jenna Jameson. Not a whole lot, but a few...

Funny you mention that, because I've wondered for some time if some disturbing commercials are promoting cannibalism?
Granted, one or both characters in the commercials aren't human, but anthropermorphised products, like M&Ms, cereal, cookies, pop-tarts, etc...
But I've noticed this for some time now, and find these commercials disturbing.

If it weren’t the tape, it would have been the bizarre tattoo, or something else. Sorry someone invaded your privacy and stole your porn, though.
I’ve read this entire thread, and not one person has pointed out that her phone was STOLEN BY ANOTHER SOLDIER. Why no condemnation for that? It’s all her fault, when there’s porn all over the net? I don’t get all this damning her, when it’s so readily available. I can understand the effect on her fellow soldiers who’ve seen it and have to serve with her, but it’s not like they’ve never seen it anywhere else, or that it’s something NEW in this world. All I see is nothing but damnation for her, and not one mention of the guy who stole the phone, and then decided it would be a good idea to distribute it?
Point. Can’t argue that one!
I think she is cute and a dope. She is figuring out what everyone over 40 knows... Reputations matter
Why do women put those icky studs in their noses? Yuck. Picture that with a head cold.
When are people going to learn that anything on video will eventually be made public? Privacy is a precious commodity these days, and it’s stupid to risk photos or video that one wouldn’t want the whole world to see.
How do you put tape in an iphone? Why, yes. There's an app for that, duh.
Unlikely, but YouPorn, quite possible!
I was getting ready to post the same thing!!
I was wondering what, if anything, happened to the scum that STOLE her phone and then decided he just had to steal the video and share it. I doubt it ruined his career.
THANK YOU Cardinal! I appreciate that. I fully expected to get blasted when I refreshed my browser to see if anyone responded to my comment, but I guess Freeper minds see my point. So, it’s ok to have a THIEF in the unit? Why was the entire focus on HER, the tattoo, etc? How many other guys/gals in that unit have something personal (maybe something with their husband/wife)on their phone that they wouldn’t want anyone else to see? Think another GUY would be ok with someone stealing HIS phone, and distributing a sexy pic of his wife to all his other buddies in the unit? I don’t think so! /end MamaShawna rant!
