‘Whites only’ Columbia $hock

Jim Crow may be dead in most of America — but not at Columbia University.

Almost 50 years after the Civil Rights Act ended legal discrimination, the bastion of liberalism is finally trying to change one of its scholarships, which is restricted to “whites only.”

The Ivy League school’s Lydia C. Roberts Graduate Fellowship stipulates that the funds be given only to “a person of the Caucasian race.”

How is that any different than “african american” scholarships?

I guarantee that there are absolutely no scholarships at Columbia that are restricted to African-Americans, or to Latinos, or Native Americans.

Why is this a shock. No more of a “shock” than all the minority, HBCU, MIs etc. that get funding, both Federal and Private that reserves the boon to persons not of the Caucasian race.

Why bother changing it?
They have scholarships based off racial labels for others.
Just make the scholarships all equal.

You can get a “majority”(Caucasian) scholarships.....at traditionally black schools.

Or the naacp or black caucus or BET or anything else that’s black exclusive. Blacks can have “black only” but Whites cannot.........IMHO it’s the epitome of racism AGAINST WHITES. How can it not be?

I chalked it up to sarcasm. OR, there may not be individual scholarships per se, but massive MI programs that encompass dozens, perhaps hundreds of the ‘afflicted’.
