Yeah, I was wondering that myself.
Usually leftists are “all in” on anything that advances their agenda and their power.
They are loyal to themselves and their own power. In their world, being part of the social collective that has power encourages loyalty. When the power of the collective is in jeopardy, it's every man/woman for themselves.
The collective is threatened. They are picking sides to avoid further scrutiny.
