How is a joint select committee formed and what authority or power does it have? All along I’ve been thinking that Congress could appoint a special federal investigator/prosecutor but since 1999 they can’t; it has to be the AG who does it. So what power does Congress actually have, to investigate a corrupt executive branch including the AG?
This is the most critical question our country faces. If there is no way to hold the executive branch accountable to the law once the POTUS appoints all the foxes to guard the henhouses, then the country is sunk.
The House can impeach. They can impeach the AG for not appointing a SP when the House calls for it by vote. They can impeach the white hut crapper if they want to. But impeaching takes courage, something the republicants seem to have misplaced.
