The Internal Revenue Service under the Obama administration described by Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., as the most feared government agency admitted Friday it targeted conservative and tea-party groups during last years election because of their politics.
Bachmann, a former tax attorney, told WND in an interview the IRS admission means the credibility of the 2012 election is in doubt.
Americans, she said, should be wondering whether Obamacare, which is to be enforced by the IRS, will target conservative voices opposed to President Obama with delays or denials of medical care.
But why would an administration ever confess to such a flagrant misuse of politics and power?
Bachmann, who chairs the House Tea Party caucus, said its the Benghazi scandal.
Theres no doubt this was not a coincidence that they dumped this story today, a Friday dump day, Bachmann told WND. This is when they put their negative stories out.
But she said the looming storm cloud called Benghazi is the soft underbelly of the Obama administration and likely will keep Hillary Clinton from fulfilling her dream of occupying the Oval Office.

I would think even the “LIBS” HATE the IRS!?!
Someone on FNC today about the IRS passing along information about who donated to Tea Party-type groups to liberal organizations so that they could then harass those donors. That sounds like typical Democrat behavior.
That's right, I'd forgotten about "scandal fatigue"
When there is a really damaging story, release another that seems damaging but which really you can control to distract from the bomshell.
Used all the time by the Clintons and now tried by Obama.
No, this time they needed something to take the edge off the Sunday morning Benghazi grillings.
In the end, this isn't merely about the current occupant of the White House. It is about the inevitability of the use of totalitarian power by a government unchecked either by Congressional oversight, or media watchdogs.
You're entirely correct, newheart, but I think you left out an important item: there's a Supreme Court that's devolved into a rubber stamp just like Congress and the once free press. Except in name, there's only one "branch" of the national government.
I standor rather sit, to be more accuratecorrected.
Who can take the IRS to court re: prior actions, not fit to monitor Obamacare portion (which I think should not be in their wheelhouse per over reach).
Thanks, Mr. pResident!
Now, get ready to vacate the premises.
i firmly believe the irs “reopened “ my case in 2010 and ultimately put a lien on my home was directly related to my blogging, protests and donations.
There is more than a few of us here at FreeRepublic that have been cut out from the herd for inspection in regards to our speaking out during the Klinton regime...
I basically agree with Congresswoman Bachman and others on this thread that think that the IRS info was released as a Friday news dump.
Another potential reason - I heard on TV over the weekend, that an Inspector General has been investigating this for sometime and is expected to release a report this week (IIRC they said it would be ‘scathing’) and they were trying to get out in front of the release of that report to hopefully lessen the damage and impact. Will be interesting to see if there is such a report, and, if so, if it is released this week.
They might as well make Chicago the official White House. The present White House can be used for tours - complete with mechanical presidents like they have at Disneyland.
