The top-ranking Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee said President Barack Obama could possibly be impeached over what happened in Benghazi.
Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) said in a radio interview Thursday that of all the great cover-ups in history including the Pentagon papers, Iran-Contra and Watergate Benghazi is going to go down as most serious, most egregious cover-up in American history.
We may be starting to use the I-word before too long, Inhofe said on the Las Vegas-based Rusty Humphries Show.
The I-word meaning impeachment? Humphries asked.
Yeah, Inhofe confirmed.
When Humphries questioned the likelihood of impeachment, Inhofe said it wouldnt be immediate.....

No MED CVN presence
If the truth the deep dark and ugly truth behind all of Obama’s actions, and his past come to light. He will be the first US President to be executed.
High treason, sedition.
2014 Must see the removal of democratic majority in the Senate.
There looks to be quite a bit I didn't say. But that didn't stop you from inventing a load of nonsense that possibly speaks more to your own hidden demons than to mine. But I won't ascribe motives to you as easily as you want to fling the tar at me. Maybe you're too young to remember fallout from the Reginald Denny episode in LA. Maybe in your neighborhood, you still believe "flash mobs" in the mall are groups of folks joyously singing Christmas carols. Maybe you forget about the professional agitators like Sharpton and Jackson whose livelihood is founded on stirring up the disaffected masses.
You can be forgiven for your naivety.
absolutely. However, the current GOP Senators are too comfortable to go along with impeachment. Seriously, does anyone see McCain , Graham, Kirk, or Portman going along with it? And the RNC is just plain terrified of the media to do anything " mean spirited" to Obama. After watching the presser today, I am not confident. If I'm wrong call me out publicly, but don't think the Benghazi story is going much further..
Let’s not -— ONCE AGAIN — “snatch defeat from the jaws of victory” by being over-confident hat our self-righteous cause will “win” over the “independents”.
Impeachment? IMHO, that is a credibility-shredding fantasy, which could just prevent the GOP from cleansing the Senate in 2014.
“Impeachment” is such a really good “cause” to rally the clueless left, that I wonder if it’s not the Dems who are promoting it within the GOP! As a kind of “dirty trick”.
I think it would be wiser for us to focus on the Administration’s first mistake: Hillary’s refusal to respond to rather obvious indicators of future trouble in Benghazi:
9/11 anniversary date
Prior attack on the UK ambassador
Strong al-Qaeda-linked gangs in Benghazi
REQUESTS for more security from the Ambassador
REQUESTS for more security by the security forces which were withdrawn (WITHDRAWN!) at the request of the State Department (Hillary?)
The obvious weakness of Lybia’s new government.
Hillary failed to properly prepare Benghazi, either by:
(a) providing normal levels of security to our endangered Benghazi consulate and/or
(b) withdrawing the order that sent Ambassador Stevens to “do” something there.
Hillary’s incompetence on this point created the need for the talking point lies spewed that were broadcast by Susan Rice’s in her TV interviews, which essentially said:
“Hillary can’t be blamed for a “spontaneous protest” that for some unknown reason went bad!”
That lie then led to the “no rescue” orders from the White House. The White House could not send our military to Benghazi to “rescue” our ambassador from a rag-tag bunch of angry movie-critics, could it?
And so four Americans died.
We were told at that time that the White house could not discuss these murders in detail because such discussions would slow down our bringing of the killers to justice. Now we are told, the killings hapopened so long ago that no one needs to be concerned about them.
We saw this with White-Watergate and Lewinsky-gate, too. First, there was the “Let’s not rush to judgment” phase. Then come the “Let’s move on!” phase.
Of course if someone does capture one of the Benghazi attackers (alive!) and that attacker reports that their objective in Benghazi was to capture Ambassador Stevens alive, so he could be “exchanged” for the so-called “Blind Sheik” now imprisoned in America, then we open a whole new book of conspiracy theories....
At this point I could give a rip about doing anything for political gain. That is Rove and the RNC crap.
What any Rs with courage and convictions need to do is cast every bit of political ideas to the wind and focus on finding the truth, exposing the wrong doers, and punishing them. I dno’t care how they do it, but they need to do it with fire and guts and courage. Fighting spirit. Dig out the corruption, Islamic jihad promoting treason, find the crimes and punish the criminals.
0moslem does’t need impeachment, they need to arrest all actors in this who committed crimes. And then the truth about who the he!! he really is needs to be addressed after that, and who committed crimes to put him in the WH.
Political ambitions and traditional political tactics be damned.
And guess what - the above will insure political success as a side effect.
Really? You go that far back? The must have been mid-1998. My introduction to street activism, although not actually a Free Republic sponsored event. I was working with a local org and the Mayor of Long Beach and most importantly, Senator Inhofe's staff on a daily basis. Do you remember my handle being around at the time. Sorry, don't remember yours.
Yes, that's another point that should be brought up. I know, I worked the flight deck. While some think Congressman Issa is building a case, I still keep wondering why he is not asking the pertinent questions. But then if he is building a case, more power to him for being exacting.
I don’t think we had a CVN in the MED at that time.
Well, you never know about deployment lengths these days. I cannot tell if they returned in early 2012 and then were “ready go” for this deployment or not. I cannot dig around until later.
IIRC, the story about Rear Admiral Gaouette (Sp?) being relieved of command of the group broke just after Benghazi. Speculation was that he refused to stand down from launching a rescue, not the story about "sending racially insensitive e-mails to white officers".
The Chief of AFRICOM (General Ham) got changed out at about the same time (just after Benghazi).
Maybe it only seems like a lot of flag rank reassignment at once for an area, but added in with Petraeus, Pannetta, and Hillary's exit, there seems like more to the picture than just a few folks changing jobs.
That’s why it’s up to THE PEOPLE to demand his resignation.
Concur....and a few others as well.
Aviano is in Northern Italy, our fighters would require a tanker....sometimes not so easy to scare up, just sayin’ but seems like someone should have asked for volunteers to man up.
In the old days, POTUS would have been in the SITROOM all night, banging on the desk and asking where the carriers were or other deployable forces. There HAS to be some SOF guys on HOT-Standby in the MED.
Our problem is we are trying to apply logic and common sense to a problem that cannot be solved with such. God Bless the Benghazi Four, their families and friends and I sure hope someone hangs and then burns in Hell for their cowardice.
Worth repeating, FRiend.
It doesn’t matter, we must campaign and help as much as possible to get rino’s and the lightweights out.
We can do it. Start now, find conservative candidates now. Start supporting them.
Agreed.
