Setting foot on Mars by the 2030s is human destiny and a US priority, and every dollar available must be spent on bridging gaps in knowledge on how to get there, NASA's chief said Monday.
Addressing a conference of space experts at George Washington University, NASA administrator Charles Bolden said that despite hard economic times the United States is committed to breaking new boundaries in space exploration.

"every dollar available must be spent on bridging gaps in knowledge on how to get there" -- define available
"capture and relocate an asteroid by 2025" -- Hopefully we can still get Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton, and Ben Affleck to land on it
And how does this fit in with 0's Muslim-friendly NASA? Maybe he wants to get them their own planet. Or maybe the goal is a universal caliphate and Mars is next.
If it was up to me, I’d start by getting set up
on the moon, we have to go there first.
NASA is firmly committed to building the first mosque on Mars. It will be called “New Mecca”.
Okay, so fake the landing already ...
According to Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, we’ve already set foot on Mars.
He wants a muzzie astronaut to be the Armstrong of mars. Claim it for Islam.
Let’s get rid of islamists first.
Earth First, We will mine the rest of the solar system later...

Interesting. This is exactly opposite what we heard 2 years ago.
BTW, the asteroid capture is a joke. It will do nothing to help us go to Mars.
Muslims need a new place to blow themselves up.
>>If it was up to me, Id start by getting set up on the moon, we have to go there first.<<
It would be a crime if we didn’t call the first colony “Luna City” and didn’t have a plaque dedicated to Delos D. Harriman.
Heinlein Space Port, Luna City
Connecting flights to Mars and the asteroids.
Home of Consolidated Mineing and Manufacturing.
The moon has been claimed by aliens.
It is our destiny.
But it will never happen with the Obamists in charge. Or, rather, it will happen but they’ll be Chinese.
I agree it’s our destiny and should be a priority. But I finally agree with liberals on something: We have more pressing problems at home. World hunger, melting icecaps, Obumblercare? No. Decisively defeating with some considerable finality the various lunatic regimes around the world that are hellbent on nuking us out of existence as soon as possible, and their benefactors. Then we can turn our attention to the stars.
Why their Robot shows nothing there but rocks!
The Moon should have been first if you wanted settlement to show the hardships encountered!
The giant leap starts with a small step! Not an Ego trip!
Beat me to it! :-)
