Was his father an American citizen at the time of his birth? Was either of his parents a citizen of Canada?

Considering that most Canadians sort of consider themselves semi-Americans, give him a chance.

neither of Marco Rubio’s Cuban parents were American citizens when he was born, and did not become naturalized until he was about 4

so there ya go

press feeding frenzy about the “constitution” and citizenship, while the Indo-Kenyan with multiple falsified birth certificates posted, bobs and weaves another 3 years

His mother is American. His father, a Cuban, didn’t get his US citizenship until 2005. Meaning Cruz isn’t a NBC. End of story.

No, father was NOT a US citizen at time of Cruz’s birth. But being born in Canada did give him the right to have Canadian citizenship. Friend of mine was born there when her parents were in residence for a year. She has Canadian citizenship and passport even though she is a US citizen and has lived here all her life - and her children, all of whom were born here and have never been to Canada, also have Canadian citizenship.

I believe cruz’ dad was a Mexican citizen when Cruz was born.

His mom was an American citizen when Cruz was born.

They were working in a business in canada at the time of cruz’ birth.

But his parents were married, and it looks like his mom was old enough and lived in the u.s. long enough (5 yrs past her 14 th birthday.)

But those dates have to be checked.

Then check what changes were made (other than eliminate quotas) to the 1952 INA rules.
