Union officials representing school cafeteria workers led a noisy rally of parents Tuesday to save a Los Angeles Unified classroom breakfast program that feeds nearly 200,000 children but was in danger of being axed after sharp criticism by teachers.
Earlier this month, the teachers union posted a video and online poll findings showing that more than half of 729 respondents said the classroom breakfast program had increased pests, created messes and consumed an average of 30 minutes of instructional time per day. That lost time, the union said, amounted to eight school days.
He said United Teachers Los Angeles had complained that serving breakfast in the classroom, rather than before school in the cafeteria, took up too much instructional time and created messes.

You don’t have to believe the teachers union. They aren’t the ones saying it... which you’d know if you read the article.

Oh lookee, a bunch of parents protesting the cancellation of a program that svcw knows can't possibly exist. If it's not happening at her grandkid's school, it's not happening!

Fail....but its ok. I actually went to the SEIU web site to find out about the breakfast during school. Well, lookie here.....they say breakfast is served fifteen minutes before instruction by mostly volunteers...hum? Kids come in, get breakfast, teacher does something fifteen minutes later clean up and instruction starts.... I could find no other states that serve breakfast during instruction. So now the question remains.....are the unions upset by the volunteers or are the teachers instructing when the kids are eating breakfast.....or is it that free breakfast will be served to ALL students because suuurrrprise surrrpirse they get money from the feds. So I will state one last time, I do not beleive anything that comes out of the mouths of the LAUSD teachers union. nada zipo nichts שום דבר Nimic nu pagh

Kids come in, get breakfast, teacher does something fifteen minutes later clean up and instruction starts.... What? "teacher does something?" That's what it said, "teacher does something?"
What on earth is the teacher doing in the cafeteria? The teacher is cleaning the cafeteria??
Oh, it's not IN the cafeteria? It's in the classroom? Like the article said?

That's your answer? Being snippy in Klingon? That's funny, that is. The article said the breakfasts were being served in the classroom, and you went to the SEIU website and discovered that this is exactly what is happening. Another freeper has told you that in the school in which s/he works, it cuts into instructional time. I'll take his word for it; they aren't doing it yet in my school, but it is in accordance with the article wherein the parents (not the teachers union, the parents) say that the BEFORE SCHOOL program didn't work, because the kids just used it for playtime. How much instructional time it takes probably varies from class to class, depending on size, the age of the kids, the teachers, etc. But the crux of the matter is, it takes place in the classroom just like the article said. You denied this could be so, and you proved yourself wrong.
Now, to try to get the last word but avoid admitting you were wrong, you resort to saying "What's your problem, lady" over and over in Klingon, like an angry 13 year old.
You don't have to say anything, I'm just providing a recap of events.

I am so sorry you can not read or discern...
Have a nice day.
(I am impressed you know Klingon)

I think you meant to reply to someone else.
I am the one who has first-hand experience with breakfasts in the classroom — but there are SOME ignoramasus here who dismiss this with: “I don’t believe anything the teachers union OR the teachers say.”
Some commenters here are impervious to facts, but I know you know that.
Yeah, I just fantasize the whole thing every working day.

svcw lives in an alternative universe. In her universe, the teachers and superintendent are liars but far-lefty service unions — well, they are God’s truth givers.
Insanity and delusions of grandeur is sometimes difficult to understand, A_perfect_lady.

I pinged you because I was referencing something you said. But was that a bizarre conversation, or what? I mean, the issue was never “The teachers are lying about where the children are eating their breakfast.” Just bizarre.
