Following the Newtown shooting spree, Dicks Sporting Goods changed their policy and stopped selling AR-pattern and other semi-automatic, magazine-fed rifles, even the guns they had already sold.If theres a silver lining for all the people who were eagerly waiting for that Troy Carbine and were vastly dissappointed, its that Dicks isnt doing so well in the financial department. At a time where the only thing a company has to do to sell firearms, ammo and accessories is to unlock their doors, Dicks sales have flat-lined. In fact, their sales dropped 2.2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2012 compared to 2011 and their shares 10 percent in the last quarter.

No doubt. I have found their stuff way overpriced as well. I was never real taken with their staff, either.
TJ Maxx is kind of a crapshoot for me, but there’s always Amazon.
Most of my friends refuse to shop there too.
A few weeks ago a buddy and I walked through out of boredom. As we were leaving an employee asked us if we had found what we were looking for. I responded "of course not. You stopped selling ARs, which is why I won't buy anything else from you either." "That makes two of us," was my buddy's remark.
Excellent video! Keep spreading that around.
you know, this is one of those things I CAN help out and make a difference. I have 3 kids in sports. I used to like the store because they carry the higher end equ and I could generally find whatever we needed. After the firearm fiasco, I became a loyal customer of Play it Again sports. I’m finding out they even have some nice used stuff. It’s still a bit overpriced, but not like Dicks... and they have a ton of new stuff as well. This year alone I’d say we have cost dicks in the neighborhood of 1500 bucks so far... buckets of baseballs, helmets, gloves, cleats every 3 months.. the list is never-ending. dick’s can burn, I haven’t been there since that story broke and I’ll never step foot in there again.
I’m just not that into Dick’s.....
I saw that, they are calling it Gunworld or something now... it’s freekin huge. I might see if they will let me rent a room in the back so I have a never-ending porn supply
Awesome
We have a Dick’s conveniently located nearby. I used to frequently buy ammo, other sporting goods, and even a couple of firearms from them (even though they would not carry handguns). I haven’t been in the store since their stupid decision regarding modern sporting rifles and will not ever go in the store in the future. I stll have Academy, Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s and Cheaper Than Dirt in the area to take my money.
Let me guess, Dick’s figures pressure cookers cause crime too and won’t sell them.
What is a “black gun”? Just black colored or does it mean something else?
I know I haven’t been inside a sports authority since they pulled all gun sales,
Hell with em.
As for Dick’s?
Hell with em.
BFL...that was good.
ARs are usually finished* in black, while "sporter" rifles and shotguns have usually been furnished* in wood. There is now a considerable portion of "sporter" rifles and shotguns being done in black, and ARs in color, but the nickname usually refers to the AR platform in all its variety.
Another FRiend calls them "EBRs" (evil black rifles) and his local merchant as the "EBR store". He also builds and accessorizes them for fun.
*not a typo.
I wish Cabela’s would come to the South, or at least my part of it. Bass Pro is just OK for bulk ammo and sport utility rifles and accessories.
The Dick’s around here used to be a chain called Galyan’s, which I liked quite well. I largely quit going after they were acquired by Dick’s, and this action by Dick’s just puts the nail in the coffin. No reason to go into that store again.
Here, too. Nice mall location.
The Cabela's opened about a month ago a mile away. I think it's going to put Dick's out of bidness. I hope it doesn't drag the mall down with it.
Here’s hoping they’ll go the way of jcpenneys’.
WE quit Dick’s about 5 years ago when they tried a bait and switch on us with shotgun shells.
