It would appear to me that there are people on FR who are suggesting that Law Enforcement, in a case like this, should have backed off from looking for the perps, and perhaps allow citizens (who may be armed, but certainly not trained) hunt down the perps.

I once had approximately a dozen LEO's surrounding my vehicle with weapons aimed at me at a roadblock when I lived in North Dakota. They were hunting for two men who had murdered a State Trooper and wounded his partner. My vehicle was the same make, model, year, and color as the vehicle the perps were in. Given the circumstances, I did not feel violated. I simply complied until they identified me, and I went on my way. They had a job to do.

try watching what the police really did to Americans. Forced them out of their homes at gun point and patted them down etc.

I had a cop pull a gun on me once too. I was in a bad neighborhood looking like a double homicide suspect. I even spent a half hour in handcuffs waiting for a cop who knew the suspect to show up and confirm that I wasn’t the guy. They showed me the picture and I would have stopped me too.

It was no big deal. They apologized, suggested that I might find another neighborhood to hang out indue to the victim’s families living there and me being a dead ringer.
