I would compare politicians to maggots feeding on America’s corpse, but maggots actually serve a useful purpose in nature. These politicians are parasitic organisms looking for the next host to infect and destroy.
Ditto for leeches. Comparing politicians to either maggots or leeches is an insult to maggots and leeches.
