This country is becoming a police state, and it is very troubling to me, the Real Time host said while showing pictures of police officers patrolling the city and searching for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

The unmaher. There is an unjong and an uncola..
And the Libertarians are beginning to cave in spades.
I love you.

Too bad they don’t write tickets for you and colbert. Me, I’d be satisfied hanging you both.
But he does have interests.
To paraphrase Robert Heinlein, sometimes you get a size 12 talent in a size 4 soul.
gee bill, i guess we’re not always wrong, are we?!
guess we don’t always overblow stuff, eh, Bill?!!
Partisan hack all pissed off his beloved little god is doing exactly what we said he’s doing.
the liberal’s world revolves around them, and their genitals.
The same effect that Tom Stoppard’s conservatism has had: they both get ruthlessly attacked. Two of the very best playwrights of the past 50 years are politically conservative. Harold Pinter wasn’t fit to reboot their word processors.
I remember Maher way, way back in the early days of his talk show shtick, back on the now-defunct Comedy Channel. Back then (this is late 80s to very early 90s) he was much more libertarian than leftist. He was still a jerk, of course. But he wasn’t the frothing blowhard he’s become since those days. Perhaps he’s rethinking a thing or two these days and seeing the light on a few issues.
I mean, I wouldn’t bet on it, but it’s possible.
Comedy Channel is not defunct, it is still around apparently
Ding ding ding! You nailed it!
This country is becoming a police state, and it is very troubling to me, the Real Time host said while showing pictures of police officers patrolling the city and searching for Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Yah Bill, how is that liberal/radical socialist/marxist/big government working out for you? Maybe looking at gestapo/jack-booted "police" thugs in the streets & terrorizing people in their own homes, is having an effect on you.... like Wow, this might happen to ME!
Just like the citizens in CA expressed their concern that in the man hunt & shooting of Chris Dorner, they were more concerned about the thug police than Chris Dorner, you could say the same thing about Boston & especially the neighborhoods where the final gun battles & arrest took place.
I would rather defend my own home from uzzzlamic terrorists, rather than seeing 12-15 heavily armed police SWAT thugs come busting into my house, ready to fire at any thing they deemed a threat or any sudden sounds. Our police state thugs are worse than the criminal gangs & terrorists.
I remember when he was on broadcast TV “Evening At The Improv”...and was actually funny.
Much like Carlin, he rejected God and got weird, nasty and bitter.
[damn I’m old]
My apologies...although I wasn’t trying to be mean, I promise. I suffer from Fat Thumbitis myself. ;)
Yup. It sounds like old Maher is slowly, slowly realizing that “I didn’t leave the left, the left left me....”.
Got himself bit 3 time before he figured out you can't make a pet out of a water moccasin.
This is the oldest trick in the leftist playbook. He's playing for an extreme left wing audience.
First you establish a premise which no one disagrees with. We're becoming a police state.
Second establish the cause. Right wing extremist with all their guns and hate radio are fueling hate.
Third provide the solution. We need to get rid of guns. We need to control hate speech.
You have been warned. Try to make a pet out of that snake and you will get bit.
Where did is say that I liked Maher.
What I did say is that even a leftwinger like him can see that we are becoming a Police State and that that something some FReepers seem either not see or not mind. So please explain how your story relates to that statement?
