WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama says there's an effort in states across the country to turn back the clock on abortion to the 1950s.
He says at a gala for Planned Parenthood that when politicians turn the abortion-rights group into a punching bag, they're really telling women they're on their own.

It’s so much better now that viable infants can be killed with impunity, that the rape and in some cases conception from forced prostitution of children and teens is covered up, that women undergoing abortion can be killed, and that 55,000,000 people never came into being which would have helped this country survive.
1997: opposed bill preventing partial-birth abortion
In 1997, Obama voted in the Illinois Senate against SB 230, a bill designed to prevent partial-birth abortions. In the US Senate, Obama has consistently voted to expand embryonic stem cell research. He has voted against requiring minors who get out-of-state abortions to notify their parents. The National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) gives Obama a 100% score on his pro-choice voting record in the Senate for 2005, 2006, and 2007.

Opposed legislation protecting born-alive failed abortions
Obama has consistently refused to support legislation that would define an infant who survives a late-term induced-labor abortion as a human being with the right to live. He insists that no restriction must ever be placed on the right of a mother to decide to abort her child.
On March 30, 2001, Obama was the only Illinois senator who rose to speak against a bill that would have protected babies who survived late term labor-induced abortion. Obama rose to object that if the bill passed, and a nine-month-old fetus survived a late-term labor-induced abortion was deemed to be a person who had a right to live, then the law would “forbid abortions to take place.” Obama further explained the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment does not allow somebody to kill a child, so if the law deemed a child who survived a late-term labor-induced abortion had a right to live, “then this would be an anti-abortion statute.”

I know, I know this is wrong and the man up stairs will strike me down but sometimes I think why are we banging our heads worrying about THEIR babies when they don’t?
No, how about just the pre-Roe 1970’s when the people were battling these type of issues out, appropriately, in their legislatures, deciding amongst themselves what laws they chose to live under, and their extent. Just, you know, free, republican government.
We had lots of kids on the block to play with.
We could pray in school, and not just silently before an exam.
Women looked like women and men looked like men and we liked it that way.
You could go out all day without your mom being frantic, in fact sometimes she didn't know you had left until you came home.
Everybody knew what a commie was and everyone was on the lookout for them, and if they caught one teaching in school they were fired.
Nearly every mom on your block had at least four or five kids and no one thought that was weird.
Abortion was the deliberate taking of a human life and everyone knew it.
Other than the incessant cigarette smoke at every turn I wouldn’t mind going back to ‘55 or so.
Absolutely disgusting.Indeed. (When is our leader going to figure out why he draws flies?)
THE FOUNDER OF PLANNED PARENTHOOD..
How Planned Parenthood Duped America
At a March 1925 international birth control gathering in New York City, a speaker warned of the menace posed by the “black” and “yellow” peril. The man was not a Nazi or Klansman; he was Dr. S. Adolphus Knopf, a member of Margaret Sanger’s American Birth Control League (ABCL), which along with other groups eventually became known as Planned Parenthood.
Sanger’s other colleagues included avowed and sophisticated racists. One, Lothrop Stoddard, was a Harvard graduate and the author of The Rising Tide of Color against White Supremacy. Stoddard was something of a Nazi enthusiast who described the eugenic practices of the Third Reich as “scientific” and “humanitarian.” And Dr. Harry Laughlin, another Sanger associate and board member for her group, spoke of purifying America’s human “breeding stock” and purging America’s “bad strains.” These “strains” included the “shiftless, ignorant, and worthless class of antisocial whites of the South.”
Not to be outdone by her followers, Margaret Sanger spoke of sterilizing those she designated as “unfit,” a plan she said would be the “salvation of American civilization.: And she also spike of those who were “irresponsible and reckless,” among whom she included those “ whose religious scruples prevent their exercising control over their numbers.” She further contended that “there is no doubt in the minds of all thinking people that the procreation of this group should be stopped.” That many Americans of African origin constituted a segment of Sanger considered “unfit” cannot be easily refuted.

I got jumped here on FR one day for asking the same question.
Apparently, black folklore equates the morality of the 50’s with discrimination and oppression.
As if someone pointing to the morality of the 50’s automatically wants a return to “separate but equal”.
Duh... really, what freedom oriented individual wants that?
Very few people would even NOTICE skin color if we shared a common value system. It’d be like expecting someone with thick eyebrows to act differently than someone with thin eyebrows.
Either Barry's cellmate (in a sane world) or possible the regime's next surgeon general (in the world we live in).
Yes, we do. Actually, we want to move the clock forward to future, where people are enlightened enough to no longer want to kill their babies. Just as we now live in an age where we don’t enslave people.
Because in 1950, there were legal abortions in some places. We want to make it illegal for people to kill children.
Margaret Sanger would have declared him unfit in the womb.
How right you are!
Have a nice time in hell you miserable, narcissistic Marxist bas-tard.
Obozo and Billy Goat have one thing in common. Neither one knew their father and it’s in doubt as to whether or not their mother knew him.
His mother almost named Barry-Barack Barky.
1950s? Prosperity. Order. Patriotism. National pride and sense of purpose. Low crime. Abortion illegal. Gays still in the closet. Low unemployment.
Yes, yes, I wish to return to the 1950’s.
Downside, of course, is the really high taxes of the era.
For once he speaks the truth.
In the 1950’s we were not slaughtering our children by the millions. And the few sleazeball practitioners who deigned to do it in back alleys could be prosecuted.
We had lots of kids on the block to play with.I was just reminiscing about that a couple days ago. Soooo many kids to play with. Kick the can, freeze tag, bounce-or-fly, hide-and-seek...... And what was so cool, is we were ALL ages playing together.
It’s really unfortunate that PP let us down in BHO’s case.
