WASHINGTON – Legislation to end furloughs of air traffic controllers and delays for millions of travelers is headed to a House vote after a dark-of-night vote in the Senate that took place after most lawmakers had left the Capitol for a weeklong vacation.

The bill passed late Thursday without even a roll call vote, and House officials indicated it likely would be brought up for quick approval there.

Under the legislation, the Federal Aviation Administration would gain authority to transfer up to $253 million from accounts that are flush into other programs, to "prevent reduced operations and staffing" through the Sept. 30 end of the fiscal year.

And we’re supposed to thank them for this - I had an e-mail from my senator this morning. They can all go to hell.

Sound like some Congresscritters were inconvenienced by flight delays. Can’t have that.

“they chose controllers”

I think “they” is actually obama. IMHO he tried it for maximum pain and impact in hopes the Repubs would get the blame.

I am DoD and what my facility does directly supports the USN and USAF warfighter. We’re still looking at 14 days off, but we’ll see.

I wonder what motivated them to “fix” this issue. I can only hope that the Democrats realized that the American people are on to Obama’s plan to make us suffer for actually letting his brainchild, the sequester, be implemented.

The Senate fell for the White House extortion and paid the ransom.

It also points out the stupid financial rules that all of feds have to deal with. They can’t shift money from one account to another because of federal law that is passed by congress.

I’m FAA and I get that rationing everytime we don’t have money for something but other things are being bought. Usual answer, “it came from another pot of money”.

This FAA Controller layoffs was simply punishment for our allowing Congress to call a spade a SPADE in demanding budget reductions. How it was implemented was 100% nobama.

I was at a mayor's "prayer breakfast yesterday and a friend who had joined us at the one last year, leaned over and remarked that he never thought last year, life in America would have changed so much!

We agreed, on that one and went one further and wondered if we would be free enough to have another mayor-sponsored prayer breakfast next year or even be able to gather to honor God, the year afterward.
