The Controversial Moment SWAT Teams Ordered Innocent Neighbors Out Of Their Houses At GUNPOINT
Mail Online ^ | April 23, 2013 | Daily Mail Reporter

A startling home-made video now shows the terrifying moments where Watertown residents were forced out of their homes at gunpoint as SWAT teams performed door-to-door searches as they hunted the second marathon bomber. While millions of Bostonians waited in their houses on Friday during the city-wide lockdown, the people of Watertown were faced with SWAT officers yelling at them to get out of the buildings immediately.

Leave your door locked and don’t answer! Did they break down doors to gain entry? If I don’t answer the door of my own home I was ordered to stay in am I breaking any law? What if I am in the shower, making love to my wife, have a hot dangerous melting pot of lead making bullets that cannot be safely left unattended, sleeping, deaf??? I did not ask to be defended in my own home, nor would I hand over the weapon in my hand and leave at gun point.

You can still get a warrant for a search of this sort. It protects both the LEO, the occupant, and the owner of the home.

The warrant would have been explicit in terms of who they were looking for, and what they might have been carrying.

You CAN do this and preserve the 4th amendment.

Thanks for posting. Another reason why the wire and media of record should not be relied on for anything but propaganda. Homeowners should check to see if any household items are missing or were injured while fleeing and then sue.

Shutting down Boston and its suburbs then have armed troops order citizens out of their homes on a mere suspicion one terrorist MIGHT be in the area then have radio and tv news report the actions of citizen compliance were completely voluntary lie. I hope this gets picked up by some conservative talkie hosts

You got to have reasonable cause and there was no way a sane person could grant such on no more than what they had.

But don’t worry I have no doubt you will get your wish eventually maybe even force people to have tracking device shoved up them. Soon the streets of America will be a TSA Agent’s dream with wanding down old people, children and handicap. Whit cops everywhere shoving machine guns into your face should you stand up for your rights. Bloomberg will be so happy.

Before you climb out further on the limb go here and read what a self-identified former prosecutor and defense attorney is trying to relate. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3011207/posts?page=82#82

You have to have a warrant for an UNREASONABLE SEARCH. It's probable cause, not reasonable cause.

We dont' debate the subtle nuances while the bomb throwing anarchist who's already killed several people ~ including his own brother ~ is running about in the area.

I am sure the cops would make an exception for you ~ put a sign out front ~ TERRORIST SAFE HOUSE ~ iced tea in fridge!

If a terrorist forced his way into your home he wouldn’t allow you to invite the police in - he would be holding your loved ones at gunpoint.

This whole thing is a delemma because the police know that and I guess that’s why they forced the people to exit their homes.

That's not a dilemma. A dilemma is when the owner has been told "Get rid of the cops or your kids die" and the cops are ordering him to leave the house. Leave or refuse, somebody could be shot. And the disturbing thing is these times we cannot be sure which would be more likely to get someone shot.

Another dilemma: Who is more likely to act irrationally to my decision: cops or terrorist?

"making love to my wife, have a hot dangerous melting pot of lead making bullets"

That goes beyond "Romance", we're looking at a "Porn" novel.

First or last chapter?

maybe because a terrorist was in the neighborhood

They had no idea where #2 was until a citizen tipped them off.

Ya think they should have just searched hundreds or thousands of homes?

??

Thanks to modern technology 'hot pursuit' has several new dimensions. They computed where he could be and did surveillance from space, and upon someone on the ground confirming where he probably was, he was cotched.

Cops with computers and satellites: 0

Ordinary citizen wuth ladder: 1

I think we were pretty much voicing the same thoughts there, except I didn’t follow it up with what would happen when the people were forced out. I agree about what a horrible situation it would be.

We’ve not seen just what would happen if the homeowner faced the police with a gun and refused, and that will be the worst delemma of all.

It may have happened in New Orleans during Katrina, don’t know.

Agreed. That is the impression I got from his remarks. Credibility lost. On the other hand, you are welcome in my two-man fighting hole.

Cheers.

LOL! Too funny!

There was no hot pursuit, they had no idea where #2 was until a citizen called them on the telephone.
