Reviewing some of Lady Thatcher’s speeches during her tenure as PM and seeing her brilliant, impassioned defense of her policies drove home the fact that we have had 12 years of governance by utter mediocrities—and with disastrous results.
No doubt about it.
Reagan didn’t get everything done he wanted to, but the man saw evil for what it was and did his best to counter it. So did Thatcher.
As you stated, the last twelve years have been led by men who could barely perceive danger, and their responses were woefully inadequate.
Who sells Conservatism like Reagan did? And why was Reagan so wildly popular? He had America first policies and didn’t waver very much.
In those days it was the U. S. S. R., and the man brought about it’s demise.
Today it’s the Islamic hordes, and our guys can’t even see the threat, let alone address it. They don’t have to be mean about it, but there is a threat, and there are sane policies they can take to reduce the threat. They don’t.
This same modus operandi is the norm across the board. Our guys simply do not get it.
I had a great deal of respect for Thatcher, and Tony Blair did better than I thought he would. Our folks, no so much after Reagan.
Bush I, Dole, Bush II, Bush II, and McCain... now there’s some real Conservatism for ya. Bah!!!
