"I have never, ever, heard a Muslim pass this test."

So in a round about way, we have reached the same conclusion...there is no such thing as a good muslim!

Not really. What I have offered is an ‘acid test’. That I have never met a Muslim who passed it does not mean that there are not some who could.

Comparatively, during the HUAC investigations, looking for and finding communist infiltrators in the US government, there was a simple trick to find a fanatical communist.

It was to tell them a funny joke, to see if they were capable of “honest laughter”. This was because it was discovered that fanatics, including communist ones, have a very restrictive world view, defining everything in light of their fanatical beliefs. If they cannot fit it in, they discard it as useless information.

Typically, people use laughter as a psychological defensive technique when they observe or imagine the irrational. But this is a different technique than is used by fanatics.

It was not definitive, but it was a good indicator.

Many Muslims are “passive” Muslims, and while they can be organized into a mob, they are just followers, having no great initiative to act on their own. Without a fanatic to push them, their behavior is ordinary, and not particularly anti-non-Muslim.

Having no natural impulse to act makes them good candidates to embrace a reformed Islam, as it is just easier to do nothing than to be aggressive.
