First off the context was the authorities celebrating as they always do publicly when they “get their man” which of course they didn’t get the boy escaped them a private citizen did. I think you’re wrong about this. The celebration is sicko. It’s an erasure, a reversal. You know, I heard an ABC news babe today refer to the bombing as “the accident”, in a statement referring to one of the severely injured persons. I have always chafed at the use of the word “tragedy”, which is common, and “accident” is just a slightly more honest rendition of the sentiment. What does this have to do with the celebration? It’s the same thing. An erasure of fact.
