Sen. John McCain came to the defense of President Barack Obama Thursday, saying he understands the anger and emotion the president displayed when he denounced those who voted against a universal background check amendment as part of a larger Senate gun-control measure.
McCain told CNN he sympathized with Obama's description of the vote on Wednesday as a “shameful” day in Washington because lawmakers failed to pass the legislation that grew out of the tragic December massacre of 20 schoolchildren and six educators in Newtown, Conn.
“I understand how the president felt very strongly,” McCain said. “He was in Newtown. He feels the suffering of the families, and I can certainly understand, given his point of view, why the president got somewhat emotional.”
When asked if he agreed with Obama's claim that gun-rights groups had lied about what was in the bill and what it would do, McCain said he “didn’t pay a great deal of attention” to what the opponents of the measure said.
McCain was just one of six Republicans to vote in favor of extending background checks to gun-show and online sales.

Most annoying about McCain is that he is only a senator from Arizona because his rich wife can buy him a seat there cheap, and she has enough money for him to utterly crush any Arizonan that challenges him. Millions for mudslinging and character assassination.
Before the Navy, his home state was Virginia, and even they despise him. He really is a mean and vile man, acts like he has never even seen the US constitution, and has gone out of his way to hurt America in several different ways.
When he is finally gone, there is not going to be a whole lot of remembrance in Arizona. Compared to our other historical senators, like Barry Goldwater and Carl T. Hayden, McCain just kept the chair lubed until it was time to scrape him out of it.
They won’t speak up. They should be ashamed.
I asked one Arizonan why he voted for McCain instead of JD Hayworth, and he actually said, “Hayworth is so much worse.” Can you believe that?
The “tortured POW” horse he was riding dropped dead a long time ago. Too bad he didn’t notice. The rest of us did.

There are a lot of law-abiding gun owners here in Newtown that are sick and darn tired of politicians grand-standing and abusing this tragedy for their own agendas.

The great debater didn’t pay much attention to what opponents said. I regret so much voting for this guy. I said I’d never do it again then turned around and voted for Romney. I won’t do it again. This time I mean it.
He fired a missile into the back of another jet while sitting on the flight deck. I’ll never believe it was the accident they purported it to be. It was incompetence. It was covered up because of who his daddy was.
Then he gets shot down and gets preferential treatment in Hanoi.

McCain has some uses. The fact that McCain is on the amnesty gang is a good thing. Having a failed amnesty pimp on the gang is a good sign for its defeat. With the lame duck Dream Act of 2010 McCain would have been an extra vote. They didnt know that it would only get 55 votes. He could have been the 60th vote if he was retired.
Upsetting McCain and Obama on national tv is the best morale booster for conservatives.
