“He also has killed LEO. The reality is that if someone is capable of blowing up kids and killing cops they are viewed as a special kind of dangerous and therefore the response by LE is going to be bigger than if they killed someone in a car jacking or 7-11 clerk for some cash.”

Cops get killed all the time. Yes, the force used to bring in the killer is higher than for an average citizen.

But then, why are they pulling out and stopping the search after the warrentless searches in Watertown are done?

The cop is still dead. Do you just stop the massive man hunt after the houses are searched?

Listen, and this is my last post on this subject. These two POS caused extreme chaos in Boston and were out to kill and damage as many people as possible and that is why you had the response. Last night the response initially was just the local PD, then it grew the more devices they found and realized this could lead to major causalities and maybe even hostages.

After spending so long on a fruitless search, it is wise to regroup, allow personnel to rest and refocus, and, importantly, devise a new strategy. That is SOP for many organizations not just law enforcement.

Furthermore, these were not warrantless searches. If a suspect, involved in a crime is being pursued and is considered a threat, runs onto your property and disappears, police have every right to enter your property and search for the criminal.
