What really grinds my gears is the US ammo manufacturers selling to the DHS at the levels they are.
They are not patriots.

There is no such thing as price gouging.

I disagree. The night after 9/11,local gas stations jacked their prices up to 6 to 8 dollars a gallon. If that’s not gouging the public, you tell me.

Obama has been president for 4 years. Anyone who didn’t stock up by 2010 is a damn fool who deserves to get fleeced. We knew where he would go in his second term and we knew that he would lie, cheat, and steal (and that the GOP would nominate a “nice guy” who would lose very gracefully) to win that term!
On the other hand, I hope that prices come back down and these “investment buyers” lose their shirts.

How do you decide who gets what when there is a limited supply? I’m sure one would decide to give it to the fellow who would pay the most not by the cut off his jib alone.

What ticks me off are the morons who PAY these prices and encourage others to run up their prices.

As usual, Jeff is right. But anyone who buys ammo on Gunbroker or such places is contributing to this problem! Just stop.

I have a long memory. To this day, I don’t frequent several gun shops because of their dealings during the ammo shortage a couple of years ago. I’m not buying now because I stocked up last year when the price was right and it was readily available. Not using too much for practice and will add to the stock when the shortage eventually ends. Standardizing you weapons helps as I only have 4 types of ammo to stockpile.

Wait until the ammo is made illegal and has to be purchased on the black market. You haven’t seen anything yet.

what if you really needed gas and all the stations had no fuel because of a run on gas, except for the one station charging $8 a gallon.
if you needed it, you would buy it, and be grateful you could get it at any price.

"But the market will return to normal and, when it does, remember the folks who did you right and the folks who tried to stick it to you. Those places that did good by their customers are where you need to be spending your money in the future.-"
Also a wise consideration of the market. There will be a tomorrow, y'all know.

The possibility of not ever being able to replace that $800 AR15 is what drove the price up. Yes, it was a crisis but if you really wanted an AR15, you probably should have bought one back in Obummer's first term when the crisis began. It's not as if we didn't warn you. If you didn't bother back then, don't blame the gun dealers for your lack of an AR15, blame yourself. If I am unable to ever replace my rifle, you better believe I'm gonna need some serious incentive to part with it.
The fact is though, we bought all the fence sitters time. Prices are coming down and availability is going up. Don't miss your opportunity again because the only thing we know for sure is that they will try again.

I stocked up on .22LR around 30 years ago. I think it is still good but I probably should take some of it out and make sure.

What is the difference price gouging and hoarding?
One is as bad as the other, and both drive the price up.
