The U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee adopted on Tuesday a resolution which stipulates that the U.S. will assist Israel if it is forced to take action against Iran.
The resolution, Senate Resolution 65, was introduced last month by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) and was co-sponsored by 15 Senators, including Robert Menendez (D-New Jersey), Marco Rubio (R-Florida), Kelly Ayotte (R-New Hampshire), John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Chuck Schumer (D-New York)...

No matter the level of sympathy one may have for Israel, this is disturbing in a constitutional sense.
This resolution would force the US to make the choice to either cynically abandon Israel or to cynically ignore the US Constitution and our founding principles.
I tend to think so too which puts it into the category of cynical hot air.
This sounds like an attempt to compensate for not having competent or serious leadership on our part. If we had had competent leadership over the past dozen years, this problem would not exist, i.e. Iran would have long since been dealt with.
That’s very nice but it does nothing to address strategic concerns. If shooting starts the big blue water ships of the US Navy will come under fire from deadly Chinese supplied Iranian shore to ship missiles that line the narrow Persian Gulf. The Navy faces a debacle in 15 seconds worse than Pearl Harbor. China developed very sophisticated shore to ship missiles to keep the Taiwan Strait clear of hostile ships in event of war. This had been a prime concern for China in the 1990’s. Recall the Clinton campaign donor gave or “sold” the Chinese a very accurate missile guidance system.
Relax, it’s a symbolic vote pure and simple.
Nice spin..
@Colonel Kangaroo, I think the second half of your first sentence is closer to the truth of the matter.
Alright! Go get em!
It's a chilling possibility which bodes ill for the survival of the American republican experiment.
” ... US Senate is granting a foreign country the power of decision on whether the US goes to war.”
Kind of like the fact that as a member of NATO we are obligated to go to war if Greece does? Or the fact that the Secretary of Defense flat out stated that the UN decides when we fight, not Congress?
This gesture by a committee is meaningless next to our reality.
A lot of Americans are beginning to tire of making every regional squabble on the other side of the world into a bloody, costly, endless battle for American survival.
Looks like Israel may strike Iran very soon if they are looking to pass a resolution in Congress for the US to help in any strike against Iran.
