Marco Rubio, Steve King Square Off On Whether Boston Bombs Should Refocus Immigration Debate
Fox Latino ^ | April 16, 2013 | Elizabeth Llorente

Rep. Steve King, one of the most vocal proponents in Congress for strict immigration enforcement, called on his colleagues to slow down on moving ahead with plans to overhaul the system in the aftermath of the Boston bombing.

In an interview with The National Review, a conservative publication, King, a Republican from Iowa, said the reports that investigators were talking to a Saudi college student should prompt lawmakers to put a greater national security focus on immigration reform.

The effort by King, as well as some conservative groups, to tie the bombing to immigration drew a rebuke by his fellow Republican, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, who is playing a key role in putting together a reform measure.

Rubio is part of a bipartisan group in the U.S. Senate that had been set to hold a press conference Tuesday morning to unveil a sweeping immigration reform bill. The unveiling has been pushed back to Wednesday because of the explosions during the Boston Marathon that killed three and injured nearly 180. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., met with President Obama on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the bill.

“Some of the speculation that has come out is that yes, it was a foreign national and, speculating here, that it was potentially a person on a student visa,” King said. “If that’s the case, then we need to take a look at the big picture.”

“We need to be ever vigilant,” said King, who was vice chairman of the House Subcommittee on Immigration. “We need to go far deeper into our border crossings. . . . We need to take a look at the visa-waiver program and wonder what we’re doing. If we can’t background-check people that are coming from Saudi Arabia, how do we think

Love Steve King...had a nice long chat with him at CPAC - but don’t like conflating the issues of (mostly Hispanic) illegal immigration and (likely Middle Eastern) terrorism.

Marco Rubio is interested in giving benefits to aliens who are in our country illegally.

He’s not into defending Americans, he’s all about defending La Raza.

To hell with Marco Rubio and the rest of the Treason Lobby.

The “Gang of Eight” can just sit down and wait a little while to have some hearings on that immigration bill that they are trying to shove thru the Senate.

No Rubio, you are not a part of a “bi-partisan group.” You are part of a “GANG” who is trying to shove this anti-American legislation down our throats.

We won’t forget.

Not so fast. OTMs outnumbering Mexicans on the border now. There is a nexus. Cartels collaborating with terrorists, sex-slave trade. It does tie in....

From a comment on a NumbersUSA article about Rubio/Gang of Traitors....

It appears that they are exempting businesses with less than 500 employees from ever requiring the use of E-Verify while phasing in larger companies use of E-Verify over years instead of months.

This is a particularly disgusting piece because the politicians can claim they are requiring E-Verify but the reality is most illegal aliens are in small companies so this amounts to ZERO ENFORCEMENT.

From an article by Roy Beck, NumbersUSA (who debated with Rubio on Kudlow, tonight)...

During the three months that the Gang of Eight was meeting with every special interest in town, it refused to meet with representatives of the law enforcement who know how current immigration laws are actually handled.

It's a little hard to trust Sen. Rubio's assurance to the Tea Party groups today that "I will not relent from the ongoing fight to ensure the American people's voices are heard before any votes are cast . . . "

We are not aware that he and the Gang listened to any American voices during the drafting process, other than those desiring more immigration and foreign labor.

Rubio has shown his true colors...amnesty.

I don’t disagree with that in a sense...but there have to be political battles won first, and I think this muddies those up.

You’re right about the difference, but anything that muddies up and slows down (stops) the immigration bill is just fine with me.

The Gang Of Eight knows their only hope is to pass the bill before people become aware of the actual content.

Hey - it worked for Obamacare, right?

Conflating? The liberals have created an artificial separation of undocumented immigrants, illegal invaders and terrorists, pretending that one group has nothing to do with another even though they are all crossing our borders. With everything including drug cartels, Muslims and Red Chinese coming across the southern border and over stayed visas everywhere else, we need to do something about securing the safety of our people even if sovereignty haters don’t understand or don’t care to believe there really is a problem.

Steve King is absolutely correct. This is a national defense issue. Until we recognize that, every enemy we have can walk across the border and this ridiculous immigration bill does nothing to secure our safety while doing everything to make it easier for the invaders to remain here and murder our people.

Our national security begins at the border.

It is perfectly all right to merge Illegal Alien Amnesty with Islamic Terrorism...as both are a by-product of failing to secure our borders and enforce our laws

And, with many Illegal Aliens being OTM (Other Than Mexicans) entering illegally via Mexico....how we deal with Illegal Aliens will have an effect on how we deal with Islamic Terrorism

Also....can one really have faith in someone handling Islamic Terrorism when they do not have the spine or backbone to deport Illegal Aliens?

AMNESTY TWO QUESTIONS NEVER BROUGHT UP

(1)When is the treatment of American citizens in Mexico and their rights vs US treatment of Mexicans going to be an issue when we discuss amnesty ?

This is a question: Should Mexican citizens when in the US be given the same rights American citizens are given while in Mexico? This has yet to appear on any US legislator’s questionaire from either chamber....ASK YOUR FEDERAL LEGISLATORS WHY IT HASN’T

(2) What makes it necessary for US to subjugate our sovereignty because of available cheap labor ? While we encourage wholesale abortion as the Godless Demo-Coms socialists encourage population control. Then complain the US is not reproducing enough to replace its aging supply of workers to keep their welfare ponzie schemes supplied with tax money to keep the system working.

Ever hear of reciprocal aggrements ? These are arranged to protect the rights of American citizens working or living in other countries.

Why is it when it comes to citizens of other countries we are required to offer them the same privledges as we do to US citizens? But when it comes to US citizens who get in trouble or attempt to do business in other countries they do not get the same treatment their citizens get.

Americans can’t own coast land in Mexico. And get no title to it elsewhere. If they run out of cash they’ll get unceremoniously sent back or put in jail untill some relative comes up with the “fresh”. That’s just for starters as for granting them voting privledges yea let’s give Mexican citizens that right when American citizens vote in their elections .

You made some good points, but this is not one of them. Straw argument, false choice, flawed analogy....and sheesh, I hope you're wrong...because there is never going to be any kind of mass deportation that you are fantasizing about, but there might be progrss on Islamic terrorism.
