How much forensic evidence be obtained from a detonated device? I suppose they can subtract the chemical properties of the detonator.

And that scene was scattereed over a huge area...
I would say patience, calm, and be ready for absolutely nothing to be done about this (as it appears) attack...

A lot. They surround the bomb with a water jacket before detonating and then reconstruct the bomb.
