The words are written in crayon, in the haphazard bumpiness of a child's scrawl.

"I am willing to give up some of my constitutional rights in order to be safer or more secure."

They're the words that Florida father Aaron Harvey was stunned to find his fourth-grade son had written, after a lesson in school about the Constitution.

Aaron Harvey's son wrote as part of a school lesson, "I am willing to give up some of my constitutional rights in order to be safer or more secure." TheBlaze has redacted the child's name.

Harvey's son attends Cedar Hills Elementary in Jacksonville, Fla. Back in January, a local attorney came in to teach the students about the Bill of Rights. But after the attorney left, fourth-grade teacher Cheryl Sabb dictated the sentence to part of the class and had them copy it down, he said.

I knew that this trend was proceeding forward. But when you see it actually happening... it is horrifying.

Liberals are all about “Rights”. But you press them, then they’re “concerned”. Then they’re about “Safety”. But they never admit what happens next in their little utopia: tyranny.

Which is the outcome of every liberal scheme I’ve ever heard.

Why is it that our founders’ maxims can never be gainsaid, eh . . . ?

I can’t understand why everybody doesn’t just trust the moslem communist who’s either a traitor or from a different country.

What lies beyond reprehensible . . . ? I can only think of “monstrous” and “Satanic”, myself.

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

But Franklin never had to appease a majority female voter base who imagine they can grant themselves both....

It’s the same MO that will bring about the Great Tribulation.

Signing a covenant, to place faith in somebody other than God and what He provides, for our security.

As bad as the main element of the story is, I find it just as disturbing that a ten-year-old is still writing in crayon in a “child’s bumpy scrawl”. At ten, I had moderately-decent penmanship; certainly not Constitution-grade, but certainly not a “bumpy...scrawl”.

It may take three months...but I’d start to prepare for SouthPark to load up this script and allow Cartman to take down the idiot teacher.

Cartman would start off and say that he’d be willing to give up green M&M’s (a right by the people). Then Cartman would note that he would be willing to give up watching the Power Rangers (a right by the people). Kyle would be going nuts in the corner.

But then Cartman would turn and look at the teacher....noting that he’s willing to give up respect for dimwitted teachers. Then he notes that this loser of a class isn’t worth attending anymore, and he walks out of the class and sits in the library.

The thing is, kid, if you give up your rights they STILL won’t be able to make you safe or secure.

I remember reading about this group of people that lived a long time ago that acted that way and they ended up having to wander around the desert for 40 years. We just refuse to learn from history.

I also noted the 4th grader writing with a crayon. Is he in special ed? When I was in 3rd grade a hundred years ago we sometimes had to write with those darn cartridge fountain pens.

Nobody can make you safer than you can yourself, especially not the police.
I know this from the experience of being locked in a storeroom at gunpoint by a robber. After which it took the police 2-1/2 hours to respond to at least 6 ot 7 calls to 911 for help.
I can only be thankful that the gunman had the restraint not to shoot anything or anyone.

Because “they” feel it’s more important to teach children to give up their constitutional rights rather than proper penmanship.
