A man found floating in the Tidal Basin early Thursday was a tourist from the Chicago area who disappeared near the same spot on Easter Sunday, officials said.
Sarath Kumar Potharaju, 35, of Grayslake, Ill., went missing the afternoon of March 31 during a tour that stopped at the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial. D.C. police said that it was unclear how he ended up in the water but that there were no signs of trauma.
Its still a mystery, said Vijay Kolluru, an uncle who came to the District on Thursday. We are still wondering how he ended up there, he said.
Kolluru said his family is devastated; his sister in India is too shaken by the loss of her only son that she cannot speak on the phone.
We are so deeply shocked. I dont know how long it will take to come out of this shock.
The uncle said that Potharaju had a contract to work at the International Monetary Fund for the week he disappeared. He had spent the weekend touring the city with relatives, the uncle said.

Trying to beat the odds, end up dead anyway.

probably not ~ it’s tidewater ~ we live up next to the ocean. There’s always a slap slap slap going on
To prevent duplication, please do not alter the published headline, thx.
He was a “techie”. What was he working on? Who was he working for?
Hilary, did you kill Obama??
It's a Britishism from the snooty set that trickled down. I have to laugh when I read the DailyMail (a great online tabloid, btw) at some of their expressions. The most cringeworthy? "Fell pregnant" -- "Kim Kardashian has fallen pregnant." LOL!!
Here's a few other faves: "WAG" ("wives and girlfriends", such as "the players' WAGs at football matches"), and "LBD" (little black dress). Then there's the "anti-social behavior order" given for disturbing the peace -- an "ASBO."
We're starting to need gigantic stadiums made entirely of tinfoil.
Post of the day!
You know, I'm amazed that journalists can still use the word "man" in any context. Isn't it sexist? I guess they can't really use "citizen", either; because you never can tell these days. We can't say "originally", because he was from India originally. So we're left with, "ID on Body Pulled from Tidal Basin Was Issued in Chicago."
