Pastor Rick Warren said Thursday that his son, Matthew, purchased an unregistered gun over the Internet. It was that weapon that he used to take his own life last week after years of battling mental illness. "Someone on the internet sold Matthew an unregistered gun. I pray he seeks God's forgiveness. I forgive him. #MATTHEW 6:15," Warren tweeted Thursday. The Orange County Sheriff's Department told the Associated Press it is trying to identify the seller, but the gun's serial number was unreadable, making it difficult to trace the firearm.

Uhm, BS.
Disgusting that media is using the tragedy of Rick Warren’s son for the anti-2nd Amendement agenda.
Baloney.....
Hey Rick - you can disregard anything I said about you. The left was right - you are a putz.
Only way that happened is if was using the underground through a service such as TOR. Even then, it would demonstrate he was able to do some very complex things and acquire an arm that is completely untraceable.
He would also need quite a bit of money.
Rick Warren has been friendly with Obama in the past. I hope Obama doesn’t decide to invite Rick Warren to Congress to testify on how the Toomey/Manchin bill would have “saved” his son’s life.
What in God’s name is an “unregistered gun”? And is an “unregistered gun” the same as an “illegal gun”?
By the way, isn’t it nice of Rick Warren to “forgive” the poor guy who simply sold a gun to somebody who probably could have walked into Dick’s or LL Bean’s or any number of other places and bought a shotgun over the counter anytime he wanted to?
Are you saying Rick is lying?
Does anyone know what “unregistered” means? I’ve heard it for years (back when I had a TV.) When were we required to register guns? Perhaps he meant it didn’t get the form required by the FFL? How on Earth did he get a gun on the internet without having it sent to an FFL?
Having said that, I’ve bought guns off other attendees at gun shows. (Annoys the dealers no end.) No paperwork, just cash. Picked up a cop’s long barrel 38 in practically unfired condition for $400.
BTW doesn’t California have a lot of tough anti-gun laws? Which leaves the question, why was the “hot” attorney general, according to Obama, enforcing those laws?
It will be nearly impossible to trace where pastor Rick Warrens son bought the shotgun he used to take his own life last week, an Orange County Sheriffs Department official said.
The gun that 27-year-old Matthew Warren used to shoot himself in his Mission Viejo home on April 5 was unregistered, had its serial numbers scratched off and was purchased online, said department spokesman Jim Amormino. A source close to the investigation confirmed it was a shotgun.
[At one point in time, it may have been [registered], but its going to be impossible to find out.]
The FBI lab can usually raise these numbers if they are stamped on.
He may be referring to an online forum. Unless the seller used a disposable phone and forum ID to arrange the transaction, he will probably be found. However the gun was sold, though, it’s not as if he pointed the gun at Warren’s son’s head.
The story is BS.
I believe California requires registration.
That story just doesn’t sound right.
There is undoubtedly more to the story and the way it is being described as if all guns are supposed to be registered.
In what way?
“BS” to me means “untrue”. Do you mean something else?
If he bought in online there must be some record of it in his email or on a credit card. It can’t be that difficult to find out.
