I understand how he didn’t want to distract. I wish he hadn’t backed down, but I understand.
Funny.
Liberal speakers NEVER care about the effect they might have on a commencement day. It is all about them.
Its very clear then.
Johns Hopkins is RACIST.
Caving in only makes them stronger. He may as well give up all of his public speaking engagements and stick to medicine.
Hearing from Carson is a privilege. These students didn’t deserve it.
It’s okay. He’ll never top ‘schooling 0bama’ at the Prayer Breakfast anyway.. LOL
I heard it was only 8 students who protested his speaking....but...I think we all should AVOID any doctor with a degree in the recent past or future from John Hopkins....likely not very qualified
He said he wouldn’t do this unless the school asked him to withdraw. According to the article, the school says they did not ask. So he backed down despite a specific promise not to.
IMO, he is disqualified from running for public office after breaking that promise to the rest of the graduating class. He’s a great speaker, but he hasn’t got the chops for politics.
Wow the left wins again.
Another coward. Very few on our side will face the left and stand up to the pressure.
Shame on Johns Hopkins.
Their loss. I would pay to meet and talk with Dr. Carson. His life story is amazing, even tho I don’t agree with all of his views.
I think that may be the problem - there is no one conservative with whom every other conservative agrees, so not all will vote for him. However, liberals lie to all the voters, telling each one what he wants to hear, and telling the next one the opposite - so all the libs vote for him.
Conservatives are lousy liars. That’s what it takes to get elected in this country. Off point, but I think I just made a break thru of some kind, if only in my mind.
A good man done wrong by his own colleagues. Sad.
He “voluntarily stepped down.” We’ll never beat these people until we push back. Ben Carson didn’t push back. He can now expect to be attacked with impunity until he’s off the “public square.” It’s inevitable.
The DNC continues to state blacks must not have independent thoughts - they must do what massa says.
He let them draw blood, now the liberal wolves will move into a frenzy,....
Then, again, perhaps prevailing attitudes emanating from Washington have helped to create the tyrannical climate toward open inquiry, freedom of conscience, and free expression of religious belief--all of which are protected by "the People's" Constitution from the purview of their elected officials.
Youth of the nation, including those at Johns Hopkins, have, perhaps, been influenced in their so-called "political correctness" demands by what might be called "progressive purity" of expression by Obama Administration policies and actions over the period of their stay at Johns Hopkins.
David Barton, on his Wallbuilders.com web site, posted an editorial documenting some actions by the President and current Administration which could possibly influence young minds not trained to be vigilant about their religious liberty and freedom of expression.
Readers might benefit from other editorials in the Issues and Articles Section of Barton's "Wallbuilder" site.
On that site, Wallbuilders provides reprints of original writings and speeches from the founding period which document the intention of the Founders and Framers of our Constitution that, in accord with the scriptural quotation on the Liberty Bell, their actions were to "Proclaim liberty throughout the land." Their Declaration of Independence from a government which, like today's, seems intent on imposing its coercive will on "We, the People," and the Constitution which became the Supreme Law of the Land, were intended to protect "the People" from the government, not to impose a politically-correct limit on freedom of expression or religious belief and practice.
Dean Rothman could grow some hair, step up, put some hurt on the whiners. We’ll see if he does. After all who in vited Carson in the first place? Academic purity, rigorous study of the issues, ability to study both sides of an issue, open minded DOCTORS, maybe? This isn’t a fight Carson should have to wage by himself. The wine sucking stogie burners around campus should be defending his right, once invited, to finish speaking. And who is going to give a class on manners to that claven of snivelers? Johns Hopkins could easily do itself a lot of damage by coasting on this situation.
This is typical. Silencing any dissenting views is SOP.
