It's easing up a little but prices aren't going to go down anytime soon. I used to complain that shooting a .45 was like throwing a quarter downrange every time I pulled the trigger. I used to complain about buck-a-gallon gasoline, too.

What I can't figure out is the panic on .22 LR ammo. It isn't as if anyone is threatening to make that stuff harder to get (yet). It's almost as if...naw, couldn't be...it's almost as if people are making a political statement by purchasing it...

The .22 rifle is the most “utility” of firearms.

I think it’s the “preppers” that are lining their basement walls with .22lr bricks in anticipation of the imminent crash.

What I can't figure out is the panic on .22 LR ammo.

Most affordable ammo is the most likely to be bought up on a scare that ammo may be difficult or more expensive to get in the future.

I'll buy thousands of rounds of 22 while only buying hundreds of some of the others I use.

The shooting sports director of a Christian Camp I work with is very worried. They go through about 40,000 .22 longs every summer. He can’t get them.

I can’t figure out why there’s no .38/.44spl anywhere.

.22 is relatively cheap, and a .22 to the head will stop a rioter just as quick as a .308 to the head. And your supply will last longer.

“What I can’t figure out is the panic on .22 LR ammo.”

This may help you understand why people are buying up .22 ammo. Plus, everybody has at least one .22 rifle/pistol.

Very informative post on just how effective this little round can be!
