Gee...Liberals are anti-semites?
Who knew?

I have heard that “tepid response” bit before. We bombed the major cities of Germany almost out of existance, smashed the Nazis and the allies freed the camps and we tried the war criminals that were left. What exactly was the response susposed to be beyond that...
FDR and other Presidents recognized that some cultures historically did not assimilate into Western Civilizations. He saw these cultures as a pollution and the old solution to pollution was dilution.
He did it for their own good. Beware of of those in power who act for “your own good”.
I’ve always despised FDR.
This might explain his ‘cerebral hemorrhage. There is some evidence that it was caused by a small caliber bullet to his forehead...some have attributed it to the Mossad. It happened at Warm Springs, GA. Some have variously attributed it to his mistress, who is known to have been in Warm Springs at the time (after swearing to Eleanor that she would never see FDR again.
No, I am not a conspiracy theorist. One other thing...His casket was closed...no one allowed to see his body. Stalin sent Gromyko to view the body (Stalin suspected foul play), but Gromyko was denied the viewing.
There’s also a significant element of special pleading here. Where were the calls, Jewish or otherwise, for admitting large numbers of Cambodian and Rwandan refugees during their notorious genocides?
FDR lived during the pre-multi-culti time when the elites thought the best things in America are and will forever be reserved for the Anglo-Saxon race, and if you or your parents, grandparents weren’t English or German, you were tolerated, yes, but there were special names of dissing (which wasn’t yet an English word) reserved for your kind, just as pederasts during that period were called... pederasts, abortion was called... abortion, no one had ever heard of social justice, chicks in porno pictures were still dressed however skimpily, and women stayed in the kitchen where they belonged (and where they should of stayed, if you axe me!) We have become so enlightened now, haven’t we!
We need a new coin to represent $0.10 (even as the Bernank diminishes it).
Nothing like picking at seventy year old scabs to stimulate a lively thread. War is hell. Should we have let that boat in? Should we have obliterated Dresden? Should we have interred the japanese? We have the luxury of judging it all in the rear-view mirror.
The article is anachronistic. It assumes that actions taken before the war started or before the US got into the war should have been based on the knowledge that Hitler was going to launch a full-out attempt to kill all the Jews.
The problem here is that even the more or less “official” story of the Holocaust doesn’t have this becoming official German policy till January of 1942, when the Bad Wiessee conference was held.
Prior to this, as is obvious in the minutes of the meeting, German policy was to kick the Jews out of Europe. They were of course horrifically brutal in their persecution prior to this data and concentration camps had a huge death rate.
But the true extermination camps we think of when the term “Holocaust” is used were a fairly late development, decided on when the option of expulsion became impossible due to the War, and when massive numbers of additional Jews were brought into the Reich by its eastern expansion. The Nazi policy was always one of making Europe, not the world, Jew-free.
The true extent of the German extermination effort was not widely known or believed outside Germany till the very end of the war. Which explains much about why a lot of Americans and others thought the Jews were “whining.”
In other words, if a Repub says it, it is anti-Semitic.
2) Even politicians with no prejudices and the best of intentions would have had to cater somewhat to the prejudices of others if they wanted to bring in refugees at a time of high unemployment.
3) Different times: everybody was more (what we would call) racist back then.
That doesn't excuse away his attitudes, but it's not terribly surprising to find someone in power back then who had those attitudes. More credit to anyone who didn't.
