Alaska recently passed laws that Federal agents can and will be charged with felony charges if they come into Alaska trying to enforce particular federal firearms laws penned by Obama.

I know I’m not the first to comment on this, but I can’t think of, in all of human history, a greater blend of hubris, hypocrisy, and irony, than this administration’s stance that local LE have no place enforcing federal immigration laws, but threaten those who even suggest they will refuse to enforce federal firearms laws that have yet to be passed.
I had a ball honking and waving and shouting "Welcome to Moorhead!" and watching them trying to slink down or even move their cars in reaction as my cab passed. They even called the cab dispatcher once to complain but she just told them we were a friendly town. We all had a good laugh because we knew they had no jurisdiction unless the VP was actually being threatened.
Ohhhh, so sheriffs must enforce federal law or face arrest? Hmmm, so i guess they can start arresting and deporting illegals aliens now too?

In the first place, the Secret Service does have police powers throughout the U.S. to enforce federal laws, specifically those relating to financial crimes: currency counterfeiting, financial fraud, wire fraud, etc. Any expansion of those powers comes from Congress and not the governor of Colorado. In the second place, the legislation gives them the authority to respond to non-federal crimes committed in their presence, or non-federal crimes that have been committed when a Colorado law enforcement agency requests their assistance. This has nothing to do with arresting local sheriffs. If a local sheriff violates a federal law then the feds don't need permission to arrest them, and it likely wouldn't be the Secret Service who does the arresting.

There is no way in heck any reasonable federal judge would let this stand, for the simple reason that states may not vote away their sovereignty. Or really, the sovereignty of their citizens.

“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.
“No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.”
This legislative act clearly violates at least two parts of this section.
Just as decisively, there is a LOT of case law about this, going back to post-Civil War America, where southern states tried all sorts of tricks to oppress former slaves.
Unfortunately, Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor is responsible for the 10th Circuit, which includes Colorado, but if Justice Thomas gets a crack at this, he is going to be filled with righteous wrath.
He wrote a 100 page concurring opinion to McDonald v. Chicago, *specifically* about Section 1 of the 14th Amendment, and how it forbids gun control. By now, every federal judge in the US should have read that concurring opinion *and* its footnotes, so should really be up to date on the 14th Amendment.
This should be a slam dunk for anyone who challenges it, hopefully before its ink is dry. I imagine just about everyone in the state has “standing”, when it comes to their state legislature voting away their civil rights.

Well, I am not surprised. The idiot voters just allowed their Governor to let them continue to exercise their Second Amendment rights - they just now need the State’s OK to do so, via their “universal” background check.
No such federal authority exists, despite what CO’s political tyrants wish. The Sheriff has every right to deputize citizens and use necessary force to defend themselves. They are the HIGHEST law enforcement authority in their respective jurisdiction.
