ROCKUMENTARY: APRIL 6, 1969Where were you on Sunday, April 6, 1969?
When youre in a five year course, what do you call the third year? At the little engineering college I attended in Philadelphia, it was called pre-junior. I was in one of those six-month industry periods working at a lab. I was also watching to see if Richard Nixons secret plan to end the war was going to materialize. It didnt. At ROTC, we were beginning to realize that we were going to be sent into combat, not to win, but to preserve Nixons negotiating position in Paris. That didnt sit well with the corps of cadets.
So lets cue the Rockumentary theme!
San Remo Golden Strings: Festival Time
They labeled themselves Rock, Southern Style, although they were all from the San Francisco Bay Area. Producer Saul Zaentz asked them to change their name from the Golliwogs, and this was to be their third single and first real hit. It came in at #10 this week.

Where was I? In Germany...trying to raise my first (and only) baby! :)
It was a very good year. A few months later man walked on the moon. The Beatles were big...Carnaby Street was the place to be in London...and everyone got the London flu, including all of us. Ugh!

April 6, 1969? The Drumbo archives say I was finishing a three night stand at Peobody's Warehouse in Virginia Beach with Headstone Circus, opening for The Whole Damned Family. Was I playing in an adult beverage establishment at the tender age of 14? You bet I was, lol. What a summer 1969 was! My folks shipped me off to Hargrave Military Accademy that June to "straighten me out", where I joined the ancient and accepted "Hargrave Combo" which we renamed "Third Stone From The Sun" and cranked out Hendrix and Cream tunes!
