They started out as the Classics, a Four Seasons imitation group. Their first single, Polyanna was written by Joe South, sounded just like the Four Seasons, and bombed badly in 1966. They left Capitol Records for Imperial Records, slightly altered their name and took a totally different direction. This came in at #8 this week.

Part Two rocked! I thought they’d never make the transition with new actors, but I was mistaken. It did get better and Part Three is to start filming in a few weeks. I got the casting call for auditions back in December, but was otherwise occupied and couldn’t make the trip to North Carolina.

Outstanding, Drumbo! Clyde McPhatter was big in the 50's when I was a mere lad - "A lover's Question" was one of his biggest hits - about 1957 vintage, IIRC.

Oh my goodness...Let me tell you a story about “Dein Ist Mein Ganzes Herz”!
Daddy was getting his hair cut at the barber back in 1955 or 56, and for some reason started to hum that very song.
The barber, Al, A German Jew, began to sing along with my dad.
Since Dad had been the first on his block to get a Hi Fi, he invited Al home to listen to Classical records, as he had the Entire “Land of Smiles” Opera on the new 33 1/3” Long Playing Hi Fi Records.
Al and dad spent a lovely evening listening to Lehar, Beethoven, and other German Composers. I toddled over and sat on Al’s lap, and asked him what the numbers on his arm meant. Mom tried to shush me, but Al patiently explained to me that that was “From the camps”.
A few years later, I watched a documentary on TV, and I found out what “the camps” meant. I was stunned as I instantly remembered the kind little barber who bounced me on his lap, listening to “Dein Ist mein Ganzes Herz”
I can’t ever hear that song without thinking of him.

A Philadelphia DJ nicknamed him The Ice Man because he was so cool. He had been off the charts for five years at this point, and this was his big comeback record. Today he is a Chicago politician who serves on the Cook County Commission. This came in at #7 this week.
