Attorney General Eric Holder expressed “concern” Thursday evening that black men are unfairly served with longer prison sentences than white men and that America’s prison system demands overhaul.
“Too many people go to too many prisons for far too long for no good law enforcement reason,” Mr. Holder said, in remarks to the Rev. Al Sharpton’s National Action Network in New York, Politico reported. “It is time to ask ourselves some fundamental questions about our criminal justice system. … It is time to examine our systems and determine what truly works.”
Mr. Holder said in the Politico report that state laws oftentimes require sentences that are too harsh for the specific case — and that “breed[s] disrespect” for the court system. He also referred to a report from the U.S. Sentencing Commission released in February and said figures show that blacks are being disproportionately prosecuted and sentenced.
“I am concerned by a troubling report … which indicates that — in recent years — black male offenders have received sentences that are nearly 20 percent longer than those imposed on white males convicted of similar crimes,” he said, Politico reported.

It also says nothing about PREVIOUS crimes that these defendants may have committed. If someone has a long record, they also tend to get longer sentences. Heather MacDonald writes about these issues in CityJournal.
From what I’ve heard, whites are getting longer sentences for drug crimes.
This is a case of cultural marxism blending with critical race theory. They understand perfectly well what their doing. Don’t ever think they’re stupid, they’re just ramping up the pressure and demonization of whites and seeing what ‘sticks’.
Gun grabbers want to go soft on criminals and punish law abiding gun owners. Got it.

What about the numerous historical facts that prove Liberalism killed the Black family?
Don’t forget sentencing takes into account criminal history...not sure this “study” screenesd “similar” crimes to account for differeing criminal histories.
It ain't rocket science. What would truly work is more black children being born to intact families with a mummy and daddy. Their poverty rates and crime rates under such circumstances are actually lower than white kids born under similar circumstances.
Maybe if blacks listened a lot more to leaders like Dr. Thomas Sowell and a lot less to leaders like Eric Holder, more of them could join that elite group.
Goes for white kids, too!

I am trying to find a link to one of the studies to which I refer, but I have seen studies which showed that black males from two parent families of higher SES had higher crime rates, lower academic scores, and higher drop-out rates than white males from families of lower SES. One of the studies compared young black males in Prince George’s Co (black bourgeois bastion of well-to-do blacks, mostly government employees) with white males in West Virginia from poor families.
I have requested help in finding a link to one of the studies at another forum, as soon as I find one I will post it. (Thought I had bookmarked them, but can’t seem to find them in my disorganised jumbled folder).

That said, Holder is still wayyy to prejudiced to be in any office in the US.

If not, then Holder is being Holder again. No surprise.
Blacks get additional time for the same crime because of their priors.
