DeGette spokeswoman doubles down on congresswoman’s ignorance

Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette, a lead sponsor of the federal ban on personal defense-capacity magazines showed a Denver Post forum she doesn’t have a clue as to what it is she wants to ban, and the “clarifying” statement made by her spokeswoman served to confirm the ignorance of both women.

“I will tell you these are ammunition, they’re bullets, so the people who have those now they’re going to shoot them, so if you ban them in the future, the number of these high capacity magazines is going to decrease dramatically over time because the bullets will have been shot and there won’t be any more available,” DeGette claimed when asked how a ban would help reduce violence committed with firearms.

“Oh no my car is out of gas! I better buy a new gas tank!” commentator “ParkerGuy” posted under the article, wittily illustrating the level of what should be criminal ignorance under

Reminds me of Mark Twain’s saying about better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than open it and remove all doubt.

With DeGette it’s more like the old song:

“put your brain on the edge of a razor blade,
it’ll look like a BB rolling down a 4 lane highway”

No. We’re not proud of this twit (well, Denver is but not the rest of us).

Are there even guns in circulation where clips of greater than 10 rounds are actually used?

Whether a M1, M16, AR-15 or M4, clips are used to load magazines...There is no such thing as an attached or detachable clip.

Excuse me but...you must mean the M14 or M1A, not the M1. My M1 Garand is loaded with, and fires from, an internally installed 8 round enbloc clip which is then automatically ejected when the last round is fired. Ready then for the next loaded 8 round clip to be inserted into the rifle.

Happy Birthday!

No offense taken.
I was talking about common terms used by average gun owners, and how they have changed over time.
Sorry if I offended you about your age, by calling you young.(LOL)

“We” called the detachable piece loaded with ammo a clip, whether it was for a 22 short, 22 long, AR-15 etc.
My survey of civilian 45-55 year olds in my office all agreed clips and magazines are the same thing.
The under 30 one, was quite specific about what was a clip, and what was a magazine, but since he doesn't have any reloading gear, we just nodded and smiled at him, and he just nodded and smiled back at us, because he reloads his magazine with store bought clips.
Whether I call my two duct taped bananna clips, clips or magazines, is not important.
If I don't have loaded rounds in “it”, it's just a useless part.
You and I both know guns are merely tools.
I think we also agree that the female elected idiot from Colorado needs to recuse herself from the issue. She and VP Biden need to sit down, STFU, and try to pretend they are not useless additions to the natiional debt.
