I would NEVER allow my child to have given such a statement, stand up for your beliefs, yes, but let your kids be kids. Inviting harm onto your own is not a smart move.

What you say by actions, then, is that America is already the land of the not-free. Would you tell them that, outright, as well, so they would know the reason to just keep quiet? Would you tell them that America is too dangerous a place to actually speak the truth?

So you would silence your child?
You would teach them that their personal opinion is not valid? Or because it may engage others to threats that it is not safe and they should not speak out because of that? Or is it that you do not see that a 14 year old can actually have this personal belief?
